We saw Bad Wolves supporting 5FDP in Amsterdam earlier in the year... They do a superb cover of Zombie, which left us both with wobbly bottom lips.

Some songs remind us of happier times and make us sad at the same time

I remember when my first son was born and it was the most amazing and frightening experience of my life.

When I left the hospital that night to go home I realised that I hadn't eaten in 24 hrs and I was starving

I went to my local McDonald's and sat down with my big mac and chips

Boyzone of all bands came on the radio singing "Father and Son" and fuck me I started roaring crying ....full on sobs where people move away to another table to get away from the weird bloke.

An older couple came over to me and asked was I ok and I told them that I was just overwhelmed by the day and they actually walked me to my car.

If that song comes on while I'm on my own in the car driving I'd sometimes still shed a tear.

When I was in Australia I was going out with a local girl and she broke up with me because she felt that with me eventually having to go home she didn't want to make it harder.

She was a fan of Delta Goodrem and her song 'Lost Without You' used to break my heart every time I heard it. It was a big hit in Oz at the time so there was no avoiding it.

Anyway, after a couple of weeks I asked her to come back to Ireland with me and while she was hesitant, she agreed.

Obviously it didn't work out in the end but I still think about her from time to time and sometimes I'll put on that song.

Thanks for opening up old wounds OP

I think this particular contribution proves the emotional power of music both mentally and physically.

As a (now out of work) musician, entertainer, singer and song writer there was nothing more rewarding, when doing a gig, than someone asking you to do a song that meant so much to them that it brought them to tears standing right in front of you. I personally could mention quite a few songs that reduce me to tears and melt my heart but I will mention one that is of great sentimental value to me..... “butterfly kisses” sung (not written) by the late great Kenny Rogers
