A late night conversation with a woman on here last night got me thinking.
One of her lines was "men have to help " in connection with what is actually abuse towards mainly women but also couples on here.
I'm not talking about the type of intervention during a thread that some men make to big themselves up.
I'm talking about the posts that men make when frankly the thread has fuck all to do with men in the first place
Last week ...couples and single women talking about how hard it is to get the mythical unicorn to meet with them....3 or 4 men tried to join in the conversation.
A woman specifically asked for couples to go dogging and got men aswering which pissed her off.
Another woman from Cork asked about it and a guy from Sligo actually answered "give me a shout if you're ever up this way" as if ffs.
We can't do anything about the abusive messages that get sent privately to women but we must be able to do something to help when a man starts a thread moaning about women being fat,up their own arses, too picky, won't reply to private messages...and on and on
I dont have the answers but I think we should be having an intelligent discussion on how to stop the abuse before women leave the site altogether

I agree with your intentions but fear you are flogging a dead horse.
Anyone, men or women who behave like this have the advantage of hiding behind a keyboard. |

The problem is exacerbated by female profiles deliberately starting hand grenade threads which are designed to stir up abusive responses.
These could be men or women using a different approach to the obvious trolls.
Much of the problem comes from feeding these trolls rather than ignoring them. So maybe instead of blindly responding to a thread we should actually look at who posts it and use the green arrow more often.
Men who ignore the subject and comment to get attention on something that has nothing to do with men will be impossible to police without them becoming even more verbally abusive.
The advice is always given to block and move on when a woman gets abusive messages so maybe consider a similar approach in the forums. |

Trolls will be trolls. A lot don't read threads properly I have seen threads started with details of socials or mngs etc that for example say verified people only and yet the amount of unverified that than comment on the thread.
As someone else said stop feeding the trolls. Ignore the thread if it makes you uncomfortable. I stay clear of a lot of threads now because the snide comments I've received it's just not worth it.
Let's just enjoy the good threads, the funny ones, the serious ones when they don't end up been a slagging match, |

"What about the litany of female profiles with fake pics?
As for Trolls, they don't like light or Christianity "
It's so easy for the same trolls to open account after account, sometimes multiple and getting the boot and back again. The piece of paper photo verify with a full body photo seems pointless, how many memes do you see of someone holding a piece of paper or placards and different wording.
Maybe change it to if you want face verified you have to send a video with your face and your age and username. The mods could see the same old faces that have been banned over and over and block straight away. The female cam veri is a bit dodgy too. I don't have the answers. But definitely getting the fake profiles and those that only are created to cause negatively and arguments on the forum and site on general. How to do that I don't know.
As said above and by a few fake profiles with fake pics and lots of veris causing a lot of sh*t for zero reason but their own amusement.

Imo it's easy enough to ignore inadequate posts and you can argue that those men are not doing themselves a favour by doing so as it won't go unnoticed. If a thread gets derailed there's also the report button.
As for the trolls they're easy enough to spot yet fabbers keep on feeding them, falling over and over for the same cheap provocations. Wise up and let them run into the void by ignoring them.
White knighting won't change a thing, besides it's not very attractive imo. I never got the impression that the female fabbers can't fight their own corner here, quite contrary.
Finally if you feel hurt by every stupid keyboard warrior insult, you might need to toughen up a bit. They're empty words by ignorant people who don't know you and you don't know them. So why would you give a flying pancake what they think or spout? |

Toughening up is not easily done when you are under attack.
And what hurts even more is when people don't know the truth and they side with the troll, because the innocent party can't defend themselves.

A very easy thing men could do.
Stop the false verification of new "female" fabbers.
Last night a "woman" using false pics started a thread
She was cam verified only and I couldnt understand how it's done.
Someone explained to me that the "women" get false verified without the actual cam bit

Part of the problem is that many people suffer from boob blindness. It's not just that they are hoping to get the roide by fake verifying or continuously posting on threads created by fake profiles. Some genuinely post instinctively without considering that someone with great pics could be fake.
All during lockdown there have been a few very slick male profiles who were commenting on every thread and were experts in every field and were happy to boast about their employment status but people still engaged with them and posted on their threads and flirted with them while openly calling out other trolls.
Trolling takes many forms. |

" a woman can get cam verified within minutes of joining. I don't know if its they go on a male chat or female chat but you can't make them out but are there and ask for a veri of use a cam girl of a porn site where you can't hear them and just use that. But the accumulation of cam veris in a short space of time is mental. The men are very easy to spot and you have a fair idea its someone who was on previously. But as you say some of the pics can be great. But they are fake. I've seen one profile with lots of cam veris but in the actual photos on the profile every photo looks like a different person |

Well in that case you're better off without any of them although I don't believe people are really that gullible. If they are then they're not worth knowing. Engaging with people who get you worked up is foolhardy at best and self destructive at worst. |

You can spot trolls a mile away. Most threads start fine, but wait a bit and some troll comments and boom, the thread goes south.. i was on a thread the other night and someone commented about womens weight, basically they were obese and to sort it out. No justification for it.. just to cause as much aggro as possible.. then you have people who have serious issues with females, commenting how men suck up to women, that these men are weak. To be honest if you come to a site like this and act like that well you're not meant to be here. I've chatted with some great people here, made friendships and will continue to do so.. why fuck it up? The reason? Some people love to wind others up, makes them feel better about their insecurities and hiding behind a persona is easy. |

In a bizarre way this shit is kinda self policing.. The forums keep our block button pretty busy.. The behaviour of some guys on here tells you much more about them than the carefully crafted messages they send.. |

"A late night conversation with a woman on here last night got me thinking.
"
The world is full of fucked up people, in fact every one of us is fucked up in some way. Society is fucked up. You're seeking a world that's impossible to attain if you're engaged with a lot the people in it. We just have to ignore or steer clear of what we don't like in others.
There's a saying "Everything is fine on paper until you put people in the mix, and then it all goes to shit"

I would love to see the stupid abusive threads ignored completely. Not even adding to the thread to point out their stupidity. See them drop down the forum with very few comments, imagining the troll logging on every 15 mins to watch and admire what he has created to only be disappointed that no one has engaged.
They crave attention so lets deprive them of it. |

Slightly off course here ( maybe making myself a target) but overall I think everyone should look out for everyone. I have been so fortunate to have met really lovely people, I have not received any nasty mail or comments.. however I have seen women speaking to men so poorly, stating they are the superior on fab or making snide comments about their cock size “as a joke” in a group. This is disgusting and I’ve Walked on for not wanting to cause trouble but it’s got the better of my conscience. We are all here to have fun. |

I agree completely and that was what I was saying above about not posting on these threads but not all are openly abusive.
Some threads are started with the intention of stirring trouble but are more subtle and the op, whether they be real or fake, just pull the pin and lob them in and sit back while others get involved in nasty abusive comments.

Dunno what ye think about this, but, sounds like fake female profiles may be peeing off men, who may react later (on forums as well as privately); and fake/messers men profiles peeing off/abusing women are creating more toxicity from the other end, and leaving the mess that real people come up against, hence this thread etc...
I wonder how many of the men profiles here are fake too? |

Exactly Belfast well said and that's why I don't engage generaly as I notice attention seekers starting threads in a negative and conflict addictive way.
Report abusive body shaming threads of any genre and ignore.
I have no intention of "fixing" sick fuckers and couldn't anyway.

"Pics are not safe on here, wouldn't be giving someone control of a face photo. Seen bad things happen.."
Can you give us an example of 'bad things'
We both share face pics with whom we want, not on demand and not because of the weight of someone else's expectations. But we will not share a pic that has both face and something compromising in it. Face pics are no more safe here than they are any where else on the internet but who will know which social media outlet said face pic was saved from if it surfaces again? |

"Pics are not safe on here, wouldn't be giving someone control of a face photo. Seen bad things happen..

Yeah that would be awkward and unpleasant but I'd like to think few and far between. |

You'd be surprised. Our profile pics were posted to CL a few months ago claiming Lu is a prostitute and offering her services. There are some dangerous people on fab, EVERYONE needs to take thier privacy very seriously |

People I know, their face pics turned up on social media with wild stories and insinuations about drugs etc, after a troll got pissed off with them when they said no, cops had to be called and they tracked IP addresses, narrowed it down but didn't catch him, he caused untold damage which is still following them around now from 5 yrs ago, and probably will for a long time to come.
They lost friends etc etc |

It only takes the one incident to do untold damage
This isn't like FB or Twitter, where most things are everyday, families, kids, pets, football practice, etc, it can be a place where certain elements actively look for something to use for their own purposes, bribery is one...

"A late night conversation with a woman on here last night got me thinking.
"
I think this site is capable of putting a stop to this abuse no one should have to tolerate it my idea is whoever makes an account here face pic is an absolute must before even getting in the front door of this site and that pic should then be run through some kind of checking system and if that pic has been linked to a series of abuse simply block that person completely and perhaps being a site supporter is also a requirement how all that gets implemented I don't know I'm no expert in running a site but something seriously needs to be done great topic OP btw |

Yeah that's just disappointing yet but yet they are quick to put people on timeout and bans on the forums |

"Face pic suggestion is a good idea,,,,plus if you want to reply in forums or message people you have to pay a membership "
Or maybe perhaps be a bit like tinder in order to message someone they have to like you back |

The simple fact is this.. Fab is a business, men on the site make up the vast majority of the membership and therefor income into that business, Fab will not bite the hand that feeds.. |

Yes agreed but if women left the site in droves because of abuse then the business model will be broken anyway. |

To use the forums you should have to be on fab for minimum 6 or 12 months, have meet verifications, maybe minimum of 5 or 10!!!
It's the same handful of people that are the keyboard warriors!! |

Maybe its too easy to set up a profile!!! Would it not be simpler if Fab introduced a better security system with maybe a premium for those who wish to partake in the forums and messaging other people. At present it only takes a couple of minutes to set up fake profiles. If people had to pay for each profile it might cut down on the messers. |

Of course, but from thier point of view, as a business, their goal is not to create a perfect environment for the girls and couples, it's to have the maximum number of paying members, and that will always be a balancing act. |
