Over the past few days we've all seen the ques on social media for Penny's, BnQ etc with people lining up for hours, I'm struggling to figure out why people would do this, what was so important, was it a want or a need?
Did you que for something, if so why?

Haven't queued for Penney's. But on radio yesterday few were interviewed one man said he needed jocks and socks. Guess not everyone has a stock built up.
Be interesting to see how many queue for the pubs in a few weeks time.
Just pity the people queueing aren't a bit more considerate to the staff, my son works in retail and the way he has been spoken to as he gives the guidelines etc on the one way system around the shop

Mcdonalds last weekend 40 mins. Why because I had to return something to another shop so it was a treat for kids. And yes Mcdonalds food is crap, they very rarely get it but it was really nice to do something that seemed "normal" and not having to cook for the 1st in 12 weeks was great. Would I que for penny's today No, il wait for a few weeks but queuing will be here for awhile. |

By pure chance when I met my son for lunch the day McDonald's reopened there was 4 cars in queue , in and out in 5 mins. It was bloody lovely the half hour or burpees and squats that evening to work some of it off weren't as nice lol |

We have heard the exact same from friends and family in retail about how people speak to them as they try and remind them about social distancing. Regretfully some people can be so rude and ignorant. We have all heard the saying "The customer is always right" but this is not a God given right that you have to be-little staff that are only trying to do a task that has been directed by someone senior. Often these staff are the lower paid and are only junior staff members.

I tried to go into McDonalds drive through in Sligo yesterday and about 15-20 cars in front of me. Didn’t wait even though I was starving. |

Think we are all consumers one way or another but just what levels we go to is different..
Just shows you how powerful advertising and consumerism is..probably addictive..
And also us men with the 300-1 ratio are queuing to get a look in at the lovely wemen of Fab..

Memetic desire... the desire for something because someone else desires it.
I’m sure people needed socks and bits but I’m sure the majority fall into the “ I only want it because somebody else does too.” |
