have read a couple of articles in yesterdays news about the goverment considering giving each household a 500 euro voucher for bord failte or tourist board accredited hotels , B&Bs, etc etc to kick start and stimulate the hotel sector, think it is a very good idea. i imagine it would stimulate a lot of hotel meets ,

It most be Irish based hotels so it can't be a UK Chain or other hotel chains.. Pretty good idea being honest but there's not Many actual Irish based hotels left in sure

Would be great if we could use it on the full island. A wee weekend break in Donegal on the government would be nice lol

We had a week in a lovely self catering cottage in a holiday estate near ballybunion beach for us and 5 kids for under a grand. So great we have booked again for this year. There are fantastic Irish staycation options available for families.

I'd imagine even the dream Ireland houses would be cheaper than that.We used to go for the houses on the grounds of hotels so we could bring the kids swimming

Faithlegg was a particular favourite although no point for you since you live that way

Yea great idea!.... Not.... It will be just added to our taxes and debt!

Many people not going to travel so will be staying anyway, why bother we will end up paying for it ourselves

Yeah absolutely ridiculous. Be 6 or 7 euro a drink in the hotel bar then. All crying the poor mouth but have been charging silly money for drinks as long as I can remember.. everywhere in Ireland is the same. It's embarrassing really.

I was living in Australia during the crash last time, they done a stimulus package think it was something like $900 for all taxpayers, I'm fairly certain 93.5% was spent on drink

Some craic that weekend

We going to need a grant to go on a staycation this year i was looking up a house i gave €700 for two years ago for seven nights that same house is near €1200 this year. Now i know they lost out on March,to june but feck it that's almost racketeering

Governments make their money from taxes and VAT so we are eventually going to pay any stimulus package out of our own pockets.

Any one for camping

The price went up because you stayed there before. Now everyone wants to stay where you were.

.

.

Either that or they had to spend a fortune on new bedclothes and trying to get the splash marks out of the wallpaper

THey'd be better off giving the people who worked straight through a tax break or a holiday voucher to show appreciation for those who didn't get to avail of "covid payments" a lot of these people had to work extra hours and put up with serious amounts of bullshit from the karens and johns who think their piss is perfume and their shites nutella,
