Will it be as easy to walk past reception through to bedrooms corridors/ lifts when you have nothing but a room number where another couple is waiting? Will hotels be stricter on numbers and guest checks? |

Policing this would require more staff, given that some of the usual revenue generators like the bar won't be available, I can't see hotels adding to their costs unnecessarily. |

Some hotels were always strict.

Good point re staff to police but will they be forced / under pressure to put in measures like this just to reopen regardless of economic consequences?
How does one know what hotels are ‘swinger friendly’?
We’d only go halves on a hotel room with another couple as we’d be local and have to go home to relieve babysitter. A second bedroom would be too costly. |

Largely trial and error. Some hotels are easily accessed. Others not so much. Some hotels you need a key card to even leave the lobby, others you wander around all day and not be challenged.
Mid-sized rural hotels are usually the most accessible I find. Not small enough for anyone to notice you but also not big enough to be overly concerned with mad security.
I'm a Dub (don't hold it against me) so would be fairly familiar with Dublin's accessible hotels...
Know nothing of Cork.
Another alternative is Airbnb. Book a house or apartment and you needn't worry about receptions etc. |

Clayton you can get up the stairs from left of bar .
The river lee has stairs access too from near the bar. It's also a business hotel so they expect it.
Hotels are under huge financial cost at the moment they will Happy to see income . |

Do reception care. I have just walked past reception, nod and say hello or just stay walking if it's not close. As if I have already checked in. Not been stopped yet touch wood. Have ye OP or others been stopped and questioned? I would have thought that hotels don't care as long as the neighbours are not disturbed or complain. Maybe I am naive here....but I thought it was none of their business what happens between consenting adults? |

The problem is that some hotels are key card entry to bedroom corridors so you can't give someone your room number and wait on a knock on the door |

Thanks for sharing past experiences of how you have proceeded to rooms. We too have had hotel meets. The question more related to any insight and speculation if there will be increased barriers to this in the future as hotels, like all businesses, introduce additional measures. We take it from the responses that the expectation is for ‘business as usual’ and swingers will be unaffected. Fingers crossed! |

Breakfasts are only being delivered to the rooms from now on

I was sneaking into a hotel with a couple once an we got caught. However he just asked me who was I and I replied I'm friends with the lads. He said oh okay can you sign in for fire safety reasons I said okay and signed in it was just a log book an that was that. Noting was said after words lol wonder if he new what exactly we where up too lol. Besides that very close call I don't think they give a crap as long as you don't act the bollox or annoy other guests like being noisy with music or rowing ect |

for C19 tracing reasons, it's possible hotels may need to keep a log of all who have stayed or use services such as the bar or restaurants.
access to the bars or restaurant may be difficult, residents only & only pre book people.
as many have stated access to various area after reception is only via keycards, so even if you get in to the hotel, your meet will have to come down & meet you .
not many American style motels in Ireland.
Air B&B is an option, but not easily setup at short notice and although the room charge may not be too bad, the cleaning charge & service charge often make a 1 night in Air B&B as expensive as a 4 star hotel
it will be interesting to see reports on the logistics of hotel meets |

Not to do Northside on it and drop hints about how "important" my job is, I (Mr) have been working and staying in various hotels since all this started (some are still operating but only to accommodate essential workers).
I was thinking with my "swinging" head on and for most of them nothing would change except mealtimes were strictly controlled so you couldn't sit in the bar all night. The reduced numbers meant that staff knew exactly who all the guests were.
Post Covid I think it will go back to normal, in terms of accessibility to rooms and as the posters above have said, if you don't act the maggot most hotels won't bat an eyelid.

It was a tough assignment but one I was willing to undertake in the name of swinging. ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

Hmm, yeah, sure, like all those people queuing outside Ikea are on an essential journey. |

I had already seen it, Irish people excel at paying lip service to rules |
