Lockdown means working longer hours?

This is definitely true for me. I've had to work through my last 2 annual leave days.
Working from home means I work at at least half my usual pace because I'm on a small laptop instead of 2 big screens. I got a big screen sent out but it's just not the same and my type of work is growing, not slowing down.
I don't know how people enjoy this. I feel like I'm a hamster on a wheel, each day feels like the last. 
Also, everyone here has missed me too much, it's not fair on you guys either.  |

Im finding it hard to switch off and im staying on a bit longer.
At least when i left the office it was done until the next day but now work is on my mind even after i clock out.
No real work life balance. |

Your company isnt taking care of you. End off... they need to give you the support... I barely have to do anything but the days I have booked as holidays I am not even needed to answer calls.
They need to realise that working even more then normal with no way of switching of and distressing will cause your mental health more issues then others. I know when I am back I will work less hours for sure with same pay |

My work life balance is frigged. I've been exceptionally busy since having to WFH and it's to the detriment of my own time and exercise as well as the time I can devote to the kids home schooling. It's been far from ideal |

I seem to work every hour of the day when im WFH! Im nowhere near as productive as i am when I'm on site, and therefore end up spending way longer at it.

Splitting home from work life is hard especially when finish at 8am. In the office tonight so not to bad. Thinking of using a half day of annual leave to take one half night a shift over the next 10 weeks.
Thankfully have two screens, and a chair from work so it's a little bit easier and saving over 2 hrs of a commute |

I'm actually in as much risk as anyone, even more considering two of my housemates still go to work and neither give a crap about being safe, wearing a mask or gloves, or washing their hands when they come in. One travels and delivers items to people and the other uses public transport to get to town..
Its impossible to even try stay clean because of these two idiots touch everything and don't care they live with other people. |

I'd agree with that alright. Working longer and a little less productive. Seems to be more jobs to do too and this assumption you're available for contact and new tasks all day.  |

I live in Spain, my workmates in different locations in Europe like Germany, Sweden or USA and everybody was able to take from the office the equipment they needed.
Why haven't you done it, OP?
I know people in Ireland were able even take a desk and chair if needed for the comfort.
I have 2 laptops,4 screens, printer and other stuff taken from the office because I knew all of them will be essential for me.

Because your job seems like a full time working from home job. Mine isn't and isn't preference for the company so they dont have all that gear to hand. Basically its buying double equipment for each person, one for home, one for office. Even I wouldn't expect that. 
I've been sent out a laptop, screen, mouse, keyboard etc but the equipment is only one small part of why I think working from home is worse. |

OP... Its calling a balance between work and private life. If you have to work longer then make sure to take breaks.
I know work from home sucks, its not the same. And no, you are wrong, my job is not full time office job but it us like it is
You have one life. Make sure to have a balance. For your mental health especially.
Go out, stretch your body, run up and down on stairs. Do anything to be active.
And stay positive |

Well I'm back to work since Monday but I'm driven demented already.
I've had a few phone calls already saying they booked my services back in March and they're getting annoyed at having to wait so long.
Then there's the management company who expects me to have the 6 weeks of work that was lost all brought up to date instantly, pointing out that all of the hedging was supposed to be trimmed during April so I'm in breach of contract. What a shower!

I have a friend who normally job shares but the woman she job shares with won't work from home as she has a 6 month old baby
She's now doing all the work for the exact same wage and when she tried to leave off the laptop on the 2 or 3 days a week she was meant to be off the boss had a go at her
She's not in a union and she's also found out the other woman is still on her normal wage as the boss said he can't afford to pay her all the full wage and the other woman the half wage.

I think the difficulty of working from home is the office/home separation.
When you leave the office you have the commute then your home.
Whereas with the situation now you finish in whatever room your in, step out if it and your straight into the home environment.
The commute, pain and all it can be, is a physical and mental separation |

It’s all about self discipline.
Don’t just jump out of the office environment back to home environment. Take a short walk. 5/10mins clear the head. Relax. Let work go.
Return home not in work mode. Don’t just sit and complain about it, make changes to improve and you’ll reap the benefits |

My company was deemed an "essential service" early on so we have been lucky enough to continue working at full capacity and beyond throughout this. We have had to work extra hours to meet demand but we all knew what was required.
We have been blessed with outstanding leadership and that makes the difference, when you have CEO that genuinely cares about his staff it filters down to the rest of the management team and beyond. So far we have seen no negative impacts to our work or staff.

Have worked through covid until I popped a disc 2 days ago. Now off work for minimum 3 weeks. 1 day in and im going crazy. So I have to say how sorry I am for all those people who have been off since March. Not alone is it hard financially,but also mentally. We are all in this together, so if you are feeling down , try and speak to someone to let off some of that pent up pressure.Be safe  |
