"Fellow bookworms, help a girl out!
What have you been reading during isolation, what's worth buying and what isn't?
What type of book do you normally read "
Honestly, anything as long as it's well written! |

"if you like your comedy cruel and black, well remembered days by Arthur Matthews ( one of the father Ted writers)...an oldie but not very well known....pants wettingly funny
"
Oh I don't think I can handle "cruel and black" right now! I need something to relieve the sense of impending doom, not worsen it! But thanks for the suggestion! |

The GOT series is amazing, much better than the show with the remaining hope of a decent ending!
Otherwise, anything by Jeffery Deaver is a good shout, Lincoln Rhyme series will keep you entertained for a good while. Bone collector is Number 1 in that series so a familiar beginning point |

Actusllly GOT isn't a bad idea. I haven't watched the TV show so it'd be completely new to me... Think I'm definitely gonna do this - thanks a million! |

Tbf I could've watched that whole series on mute - I was too distracted by yer man to have a motion what actually happened! So I bet the books would be brand new to me! Another one to add to the list, thanks! |

"I thoroughly enjoyed JoJo Moyes trilogy - Me Before You, After You & Just Me. I highly recommend them. Happy reading!"
Oh! I love a trilogy or series of books. If a book is really good, I'm also so sad when there isn't another one to move onto. Will definitely check these out, thaaanks! |

The Glass Woman by Caroline Lea. It's set in Iceland in the 17th century and it's a folk/goth horror about a young woman marrying a man she barely knows whose previous wife was rumoured to be a witch.
I haven't been able to start another book since I finished it, it's just beautifully written, edge of your seat stuff. |

John Irving: A prayer for Owen Meany (probably my favourite novel)
John Boyne: The heart's invisible furies
I see elsewhere in this thread that someone recommended Morris West. I really enjoyed his Vatican themed novels The clowns of God, Lazarus and Eminence. |

"American gods is fantastic...
That's been on my list. Must get to it now that it has your stamp of approval. "
A lot of Neil Gaiman stuff is great if that’s been on your list. Neverwhere by him is great. Or any Philip Pullman, he does the same kind of work. |

I recently really enjoyed one called The Taking of Annie Thorne and another called The Good Sister. The first one is set in a Yorkshire mining area about a child's disappearance but with supernatural elements. The second one is about a Muslim girl who goes from London to Syria to join an extremist group and her father who goes to try to get her back. Both very good, obviously very different. |

Game of Thrones are great books but he still has a few to write. The tv show finised but the books are way behind.
Sleepers by Lorenzo Carcaterra. Film is good but the book is so much better |
