I work in a shop, that's due a renovation if I'm being honest, place is very tight to go around.
At times now there can be an influx of people coming into the shop & I'd try my best to tell people to keep their distance but some people can be malicious and ignorant
I've worked there for 3 years and haven't got as much abuse as I had in the last few weeks.
Just want to know has anyone else had something similar |

You need to talk to the boss
If a shop is open they are meant to have some way of controlling the number of customers in the shop at anyone time.
Are there other members of staff that you can talk too
Does the owner work in the shop and do they know whats going on |

It shouldn't be getting to the point of overcrowded. The owner needs to decide the max amount of people to allow in and have someone on the door the same as any other store.
As for abuse, I'm in retail and I've experienced it. I've told people to step back from staff and other customers. I have zero tolerance for people not respecting boundaries or abusing myself or other staff. I've told people that all the precautions are put in place for everyone's protection and if they aren't happy with it they won't be allowed into the store and they can shop somewhere else. |

Yeah he knows and only we advised him to do something about it like one way system in and out.
We're not even allowed to leave hand sanitiser and wipes for the customers, because of "budgetary issues" |

He's very foolish if he's not looking after the staff
Do you wear gloves...is there a perspex barrier between you and the customers |

As a store manager what your boss is doing is illegal. He has to follow the guidelines the country has put into place at minimum. Depending on the size of the store how many people should be in. I know once we open we will only be allowed 3/4 staff and 2 customers. Gloves and masks and hand sanitizer should be provided. If he cant affored it though luck |
