During my half century on this planet I've learned thing or two about human nature. I've swam with the sharks and the dolphins. I've traveled and met some wonderful people, musicians, poets, scientists, learned men and women.
I've also met some despicable people who have little regard for their fellow humans, sociopaths narcissists, and psychopaths. Quite a lot of them hide in plain sight behind a veneer of respectability.
I try to see the best in people but I always have a backup plan, because shit happens sometimes.
People who come into our lives are either a blessing or a lesson. Sometimes these lessons can be harsh, sometimes gentle. If we don't learn the lessons life is teaching us, then we are destined to repeat them until we do.
So you could say I'm worldly wise and slightly cynical - I learned that the most wonderful people tend to be quite modest - they don't tell you how wonderful they are.
So upon initial acquaintance, if someone appears too good to be true, they are usually aren't.
