Have asked admin to consider a Northern Ireland forum as yes we are part of the UK but there is a sea seperating us and if we use Ireland forum we could be hundreds of miles away to travel to meet. Scotland Wales and London have their own section. I just think if we are chatting to others in N.I we may have more chance of meeting than say someone in Wexford. Opinions? |

Yeah I think this is a good idea, I agree with the distance issue. |

"I never said that it wasn't lol but would take about 4 hours to drive to from Belfast! "
4 hour drive isn't so bad. We live on an island that takes about 5 hours to drive at the longest points. We forget about the rest of the world where a four hour drive is basically a commuter distance. |

Currently hidden for various reasons
1. Not meeting until after lockdown
2. To try and restrict new mail
3. Catching up on existing mail
4. Happy with who I am chatting to on and off fab
But my post isn't about hidden profiles....it was your opinion on a N.I section in forums that was asked for |

I personally prefer just having an Ireland forum. It's not really abouy arranging meets when I use the forums. Its for chatting and just interacting with people. Looking at where they are from on the profile will tell you anyhow how far away they are anyhow. I think a just ni forum would probably end up dying a death pretty quickly once the novelty would wear off. Some times even here no one posts anything for hours at a time. |

You only need to look at the Scotland and Wales forums to see that this would be a non runner. The vast majority of threads on both have single figure posts and very few that go above 20 contributions.
Even in the lounge where things move at a much faster pace, threads are repetitive and it's the same people contributing day in and day out with a much larger audience.
It's not something I'd be interested in because I don't use the forums to arrange meets so distance doesn't come into it.
The Ireland forum is already struggling to maintain any momentum so one specifically for Northern Ireland members would have a short lifespan. |

That vast majority of fab members either don't use the forums or just read and never contribute so I don't see the point of having a seperate forum.
What specifically would anyone want to discuss in a Northern Ireland forum that isn't already discussed here?

It's good to talk, no matter where you are from, so I've no issues with this idea.
Lots of good points allready being discussed and great merit in all.
For me it's a yes as I don't see it taking away from the existing forums. |

Next thing the fabbers down in Wexford are looking for a separate forum too.
Honestly I think it would be a pity if the division of the island is reflected in the forum.
Besides I do not see the need for it. Peeps in specific geographical regions can easily be addressed in threads aimed at them and profile location should sort out private chat selection.
It's one island and a small scene that should have no borders, it's about fun, sex, maybe love and most of all cuming together. |

I agee completely i don't see any need to split it. It's fine as it is. And there is always the search option amd nearby option to look for people close to you. Also like someone mentioned only a small minority of fab use the forums use well so you would still only be seeing a small amount of people posting in there. |

Lots of great points. Personally, i like to see people's comments in the forum as helps build a picture about them and anyone that has caught my eye has ended up being hundreds of miles away. I like to meet for a coffee before any play as it helps judge the sexual chemistry but I'm not driving for 3 to 4 hours there to meet and then home again as at times a social has proven a lot and wouldn't necessarily lead to play. Yet if I knew they were in N.I, the likelihood is at that any travel would be a lot less. Wales and Scotland have their own forum but Northern Ireland doesn't but I accept that we have a smaller population and those on fab may not use the forum. I originally went to the UK forum but soon realised that it was pointless anf then decided to try the Ireland forum.
It was only a thought/suggestion anyway. |

"Keep it as it is I love talking to fellow fabbers from further south in the country. "
yabba dabba to that,
par dieu yep would prefer it functioning as an all-island cohesive unit all the time. loads of energetic mindsets both north and south buzzing with chatterballs, ideas and the best of fun. "stay liberal, fuckeroos!" there's a touch of magic about that too, keep it free to flow. one set of heads looks over a fence and says "mmmm!" other set looks over and says "aaah!" dont go changing
can see the pros to op's idea given membership numbers/stats in the north. either way, more fabaliss people required |

If there was a N.I forum I would probably interact on it from time to time, but tbh I wouldn't think a separate N.I would be a good idea as it could turn into free for all by that element who can't keep political opinions away from fab
And we see it from time to time on Ireland forum and 9 out 10 times I've seen these type of outbursts it's been from a profile N.I based
I like Ireland forum and lots from the North use them

I have to agree with this. I think the current forum is great and if you ever were to meet anyone further a field sure it’s only drive away, Id go to cork quicker than Scotland, Wales or England. I also think it would end up being politicised and fab is not the place for politics. |

Over the years i have seen similar suggestions for bot NI forum and NI chat in both instances these are just vehicles to meet others chat and at some stage meet up at socials or party's. I find both posting here and in chat shows others a glimpse of ur personality and if its attractive enough u find travel is not a road block it can even add to the excitement of meeting up
I know id never seen belfast if it wasnt for the forums even if it was only what i could see out of the hotel window |

Ireland forum is plenty. I have made some very good friends form NI through the forums.
As for travel lads ye think the country is huge , believe it or not we actually have decent enough roads. And as for travelling for a social make a night out of it if it that's far. We have a beautiful little country

Good luck. I've repeatedly asked them for this for over 7 yrs. Also suggest using out BT post code for searching for the very same reason. We get hundreds from Liverpool, Blackpool area before even reaching across our own areas using distance filtering, but always got negative responses from those across the water for various reasons. Mostly by those waiting their suggestions to be considered first I'm guessing.
Hope it happens as it would make the experience here much better IMO. |

There's a politics forum and the Irish forum is full of politics so TBF, wouldn't make much difference. Just filter them out.
There's nothing stopping anyone post whatever sh*te they want in any forum anyway.
The point would be for many who don't want to travel far for meet can filter bit better and search more locally (this option is already very restrictive for those with a BT postcode. Anyone from the south can join in the forum if they fancy the travel, no one is restricted. |

"Sure lets start a new section for each province of Ireland why dont we! Makes no sense whatsoever!"
Easy said from the biggest city on the island and everything on your doorstep.
Whilst it's not the size of mainland UK for us;
Dublin 5 hour round trip
Galway 8½ hour round trip
Cork 10 hour round trip
Even Donegal is 4½ round trip
These are all feasible for a meet & greet, a social, a play party or an event but for a coffee meet before a play meet, you'd need to be pretty certain about who you were going to meet and that they were gonna turn up to even consider it.
But I do agree there is a high likelihood that it would descend rapidly towards tribalism and politics so probably isn't worth the hassle. |

True but it would be dead within a few weeks.
Look at this forum quite often there is ages where no one comments. So a smaller one would be even worse. Same as the Wales and Scotland forums it can go days without comments.
And the forum is only a minority of fab users anyhow most meets are done through messages.
Wouldn't bother me either way if they do one or not but it will most likely end up dead in the water and a waste of time. |

100%. The ireland form gets pretty boring and repetitive, I'd imaging reducing the numbers by 75% would not be good for the quality of posts. Don't really see any need for it |

Partitioning the Irish forum is a terrible idea.
Distance argument for arranging meets is absolute rubbish. Belfast and Dublin are two centres of gravity for swinger numbers on the island and much closer to each other and with better transport links than say Cork and Galway. Not to mention Derry - Donegal v Wexford - Donegal.
Very topical and trumpian play to drive division. |

I can't see for the life of me why having a smaller forum inside the Irish one is about division? And here I thought people were open and accepting here. Division is something you make with words and attitudes, not because of another forum.
Do those who feel this way feel they'll be left out in any way? Not any more or less than in the Irish forum.
Most wouldn't travel two hrs for a coffee meet up here, so the travel arguments that's it's only 2hrs here or 3hrs there is irrelevant. If you want to travel 2 hrs for a coffee meet you can still do it and having a local forum wouldn't stop you doing that either.
What many are failing to understand is that it may encourage more to use the forums and this is strongly needed. There are thousands here who don't use them for numerous reasons. If more locals used it then you may find more use the Irish one as they get to know people.
Too many Debbie Downers about.

Not sure I see the logic in having a separate forum for Northern Ireland in terms of meeting people.
A separate forum would have limited numbers of using, despite the fact that people can and do use many of the forums on Fab. You would probably just get people using both at the same time, as I do with the Ireland forum and the Lounge etc.
If you really want to increase the possibility of closer meets, a far easier way would be to open up the northern counties to the old basic search.
I find it strange I can search people in Donegal but am unable to search the counties in between unless I change the browsing location to the UK, then the region to NI and the I get the whole NI region, not individual counties.
Change the search, not the forums. |
