Has anyone ever gone to (I believe) portmarnock beach where the nudists go?
What's been your experience if so?
I really want try it but I'd take a secluded area before I do it in front of other Irish people, out of pure paranoia I'd known someone.  |

A huge amount of irish people try it abroad and like it but wouldnt do it here for some reason...like meeting someone they know.
The Irish Naturist Association run nude swims a few times a month in various locations around the country and full details are on their website if you want to give it a go but like everything else they are stopped at present
The beaches in Ireland where nude sunbathing take place are also listed on the INA website with full directions on how to get to them.
The beach you're thinking of is actually in Donabate again full directions on their website
If you meet someone you know on a nude beach and they are also nude whats the problem.
Its not as if you just going to have sex with them because you're both nude
I joined the INA because I enjoy nude beaches abroad
To be honest I'm so busy with work,don't have a huge amount of friends and have body image issues that I decided I'd go out of my comfort zone and try to relax more by goingbfor a swim a few times a month
Best decision I ever made 2 years ago so go for it.

You asked a question about a place where "the nudists go" but if it's something you are genuinely interested in and we are being pedantic you would have said naturists or naturist beach.
The reply you got from a fellow fabber who has great knowledge in this area was detailed and informative.

I think op you took up what BM said completely wrong. He was giving you advice not having a go. I suggest you look at what he said as he actually knows about this subject because I have spoken to him about it. And as the poster above has said the attitude lies at your door not his. I say nudist and I'll continue to say nudist.. I've been doing it for many years abroad and have made a number of friends doing it. So guessing my intention by terminology is already incorrect.
My query was specifically about Ireland and not anything to do with anything sexual.
Any response, no matter what you're discussing that starts with "First of all".. is rude. You've already set the tone for being condescending, and to continue it with naturism is non sexual social nudity as if it was even intended I wanted to do for sexual reasons is pre judgemental and rude.
I have been scrutinised for tone by text/over email for 8 years because of what I do. If he doesn't see his tone, fair enough. Point noted. My tolerance for condescending people is 0% so I'll take it into account next time. I won't blame it on being a scorpio.

So what I'm getting is not one person has had an experience on this beach? 
Dont insinuate I'm looking for sex and then ignore my question and talk about yourself and I'm fine.

Maybe if you took the reply at face value and responded accordingly there wouldn't have been anything more to say on the matter.
The response you got was a generic reply to anyone interested in the naturist lifestyle and dissecting it and looking for something to be offended by was the catalyst for any further replies you got.
If someone takes the time and effort to respond you should have the decency to thank then got the information and not go in all guns blazing and accusing them of having an attitude.

I was up at that beach but not for that reason lol but I wouldn't mind trying it out myself some time. It's a busy enough beach I wouldn't have imagined it as a nude beach... |

thanks for this information. Friends of mine were recently promotimg a nude swim in a pool. I really wanted to go but something just stopped me. Some day I will, i think like OP said maybe somewhere quieter and private first. Then who knows maybe I may bite the bullet if I have some one to go with. |

Closest thing I ever saw to nudists on Portmarnock beach, were Flashers, place was riddled with'em,,, but that was the 80s, dying trade these days,, Flashing. |

My humble suggestions would be:
Trawalua beach in Sligo absolutely beautiful! Bita of a walk in, but well worth it!
Eagle rock, Dalkey is nice but only the swim spot. The cliffs are great if you get a sunny ledge, but be careful.
And Maghermore is good to, can get busy with clothed bathers and families, so not ideal for nudists.

If you use the same carpark and when you walk down the lane to the top of maghermore...dont walk down the steps to the beach but turn right and walk across the headland to the next beach called magherabeg.
I've never seen anyone on this beach that weren't nude and its fairly private |

To be honest I'm so busy with work,don't have a huge amount of friends and have body image issues that I decided I'd go out of my comfort zone and try to relax more by goingbfor a swim a few times a month

Trawalua beach in Sligo absolutely beautiful! Bita of a walk in, but well worth it!
Eagle rock, Dalkey is nice but only the swim spot. The cliffs are great if you get a sunny ledge, but be careful.
And Maghermore is good to, can get busy with clothed bathers and families, so not ideal for nudists.

thanks for this information. Friends of mine were recently promotimg a nude swim in a pool. I really wanted to go but something just stopped me. Some day I will, i think like OP said maybe somewhere quieter and private first. Then who knows maybe I may bite the bullet if I have some one to go with.
