I was once told by a lady that her daughter had popped by after she’d had a row with her boyfriend and she couldn’t turn her tearful child away. It was quite an elaborate story and I would have believed every word, had she not already told me she wasn’t married, never had been, and never had kids as the thought of settling down had “just never looked appealing”!!!!

Hiding in the shadows

Was meeting a guy for a social, I was on the train to town when he messaged to say stuck in traffic, bad accident on the motorway

I could see the road was red on Google maps & his location on here was showing as relevant.

Few more sporadic messages over couple of hours, while I was sat in the pub, then he said he was heading home, as would be too late by the time he arrived.

OK no problem.

Until next day he posted a veri, obviously from the night before & the ladies location matched the distance he'd been from me!

A cancellation midway through the journey, due to overindulgence the night before.

I wouldn't have minded, but I was an hour into the journey and I had already informed the person I was on my way. If you weren't feeling too well then, any sane person would have cancelled before I started the journey. That's just a lousy cheap trick and wasted my time, fuel and effort.

To top it I was blocked. Bad manners and a time waster. It's the only time it's happened though.

Not a FAB meet but went to meet up with someone from school I hadn't seen for over 13yrs buy messaged and chatted constantly for the better part of a year.

Traveled over two hours just for her to not answer her door.

About 3hrs later she replied to my phonecall to say I was there. The excuse was "had to rush my son to hospital"... He was playing outside when I knocked for her.

I'd a meet arranged with one Couple at theirs one Sunday.

I was given directions to them, but en-route, I was texted a message I'd pass a local Tesco's near to their home and could I pick up a few items?

They then sent a list a mile long! I was expected to pay for it all, with no reimbursement! When I refused, they called me a timewaster!

Chatted for a good while, exchanged numbers, I booked the hotel, made a reservation at a decent restaurant only to get a message 10 minutes before saying "my friend says you not who you say you are". Then blocked

Oh this one turned up alright then after 10 minutes said he was going to get his fags from the car. Yep, he drove off.

Another one dropped me off outside the pub, said he was going to find a parking space then yep you guessed it - he drove off

I was due to be meeting a couple a few years back.... we chatted on WhatsApp a fair bit but the meet kept changing (started as me meeting the lady 1-1, and had morphed into me following a very rigid script that her hubby had set out to meet them both). I had already told a friend that I was sure they would cancel....

And they duly did. The night before we were due to meet up, they messaged that the one of the lady’s friends had died having been ill for some time. I duly sent condolences and the (insincere) hope we could rearrange....

.....then an hour later they messaged to say she’d not died after all, and the meet was back on!!

I politely told them I didn’t really believe them and so wouldn’t be coming.

Got a right earful of abuse - and me being called a timewaster!!

Not a word of a lie....!!

He was fine about it and totally understood and we are trying to arrange something else soon

We were in a hotel room waiting for a guy who we’d met a few times. As the meet time passed we messaged and he eventually replied an hour later saying his auntie had died. Sympathetic to this we understood and checked out and went home.

The next day he displayed a verification from a couple he went to a club with instead. When we challenged him he said it was a better offer.

But the best excuse we had from one guy was he had to go and buy a new budgie to replace a dead one.

Arranged to meet a lady , we had videocamed and whilst I was suspicious..she seemed very keen very quickly, I went along to meet her outside her house...she suggested we get a bottle of wine from the local corner shop... I said sure .. we went up and chose one , she had no money and I said no worries I'm happy to buy it.

As we walked back she asked if I could make a contribution towards the baby sitter. I said I'm not an ungenerous bloke but you can't just spring that on me ...that's not on...she got more and more verbally aggressive..I walked off with my bottle of wine...

Back when we were very new here we'd been chatting to a guy from around 20 miles away who seemed eager to join us and could travel to us initially we spoke on here then on kik, the night came and he was messaging up until he said he was close by but that he'd have forgotten condoms, we explained that we have a variety already but there are shops still open and nearby. He appeared as within a mile, but never turned up, and then blocked us on fab!

Arrange a meet with a woman at 8 been messaging and spoke to her hours before she said she’ll text me the house number before I set off, all ready to leave and trying to get through to her ... After half an hour I suspected she might be a time waster so I just went to a bar and she texts back at midnight saying sorry she’d fell asleep lol then blocked me

Another time I’d been talking to a woman for ages every time one of us was free other would be busy finally we’re both free set up a meet at hers... I’m on my way there when she messages saying I can’t come she’s been locked in by her daughter who’s gone to her friends and she can’t find her set of keys.. so we set up another meet and she “falls asleep completely forgot” lol blocked her she makes another profile asking why I blocked her

If you never had no shows then your very lucky finding right people. We have had nine no shows in total after organising times & places. One guy even left wife sitting in hotel bar after messaging the night before to confirm. She was not a happy chappie. Seems to be very common on here. We had to cancel once through no fault of our own & guy went off on one & was really shitty to wife. His loss as we could have rearranged if he had been understanding.

Oh boy where do I start?

I've been ghosted/no showed more times than I care to remember. I like to think these days I'm fairly sure that someone will show when they say they will.

I've had a few make the old family members ill excuse to then see they met someone else.

The worst one was a guy who claims to be a security guy in Plymouth. He chats a little normally very late at night, arranges to meet the next morning then shuts his profile off. The first time we arranged to meet I ended up sitting in a freezing cold pub waiting for 2 hours waiting for him. I called him over and over left several messages on voicemail and he never got in contact with me. I don't drive so I had to get the bus back over an hour. He got in touch months later saying he forgot. He then arranged to pick me up but ghosted me

Oh and another guy I was arranging to meet claimed his car broke down on way back from London. He claimed to be at such and such a hotel but when I asked him to prove it he refused to send me a photo claiming the hotel WiFi didn't work! All this fell apart when I said he was online here on his mobile and it showed his location to be 30 miles from me as it had been all the time we had talked in Devon!

To address the balance I once cancelled a meet due to a DIY plumbing emergency. I had to call a Plummer out and was waiting for him.

The second one I was on my way to massage a couple a fair distance away in Cheshire. I felt ill on the way and had to stop off. I did ring them to say I was going to be late. Glad I got there as it was the best massage meet I’ve had.
