How long is too long?

We are talking about profile text... get your minds out of the gutter we already know our answer to the latter entendres of the double entendre.

We have put effort into making our profile text stand out and have recently been told to trim it back a bit... we aren’t so sure as we feel most of the information we are putting out is important.

Thoughts?

Personally speaking far to long . Boring even to a reader ....I'd trim each paragraph down to a minimum and even join some together .

Half the info is of no interest really.

It’s a sizeable tome I’ll give you that. Content strikes me at pertinent and valid. I struggle with the 3rd person style. But if it reflects you and your desires accurately then all is good.

Thanks Bob! Very flattering. However, unable to make that happen. Happy hunting!

It is just my personal opinion, referring to yourself as "they" is a little offputting.

Otherwise you sell yourself well.

No hats being thrown in from me though.

Do you really need to say "act now they are getting more picky by the minute" three times ?

The, unintended, second order effect of the long profile seems to be that it s out a decent portion of folks for whom we aren’t really looking. We thrive on the social side of the lifestyle and a well thought out message indicates to us a like mind able to converse and hold their own in our company.

I can entirely empathise. The mutual intellectual challenge and stimulation is as important as the physical.

I read it. Length ok if all the content was unique and not repeated. Main issue is the switching between 1st and 3rd person. Sorry but it reads like a bad cut and past in places with only your names added. Read it out aloud and I am sure you will fix it so it flows.

Profile text streamlined a bit. Double checked all is in the intended third person (bet it sticks in your memory for good or ill). Found a few glaring errors and polished them off.

Have posted questions on our profile text on this forum several times now and always learn something . Thanks all.

Do you mean a 'few neat experiences' or new experiences.

Neat experiences.

When they take their clothes off on a meet they fold them up.

They do not just not read the profiles. They cannot even see what the thread is about before posting on it.

I read yours before, I like it, it's a bit long though, not too long for me. It's more the 3rd person that makes it harder to read for me.

It is long. No getting away from that. Is that necessarily a bad thing? In my experience, no!

If you find you aren’t attracting the right sort of people then maybe consider changing it... if it’s working for you then go with it!

Personally, I read it and I think it sounds great! Perhaps not the couple for me, but I hope you find what you are looking for!

I LOVED it! Oh my, you two are quite the awesome pair, aren’t you? I absolutely fell in love with you both by the time I reached oxford commas and double spacing. Double spacing. Perfection.

Potentially, to break it down a bit, you could split out the paragraphs so you have many smaller paragraphs rather than a few long ones. Other than that, you push your core messaging out with a liberal sprinkling of humour. I would absolutely not cut it down.

However, as you can see, I’m a sucker for a long message

Thanks! It does seem to be attracting the right folks. I’ll try and tighten it up a tad more at some point but am feeling ok with it now. Happy hunting!

It is YOUR profile, if people find it too long and boring, they are probably not the type you would be interested in.

People tend to scan through long profiles and take info they need..

Adjust for yourself and not others...

I personally don't think it's too long - always good to see some detail, though as others have said breaking the paragraphs down a little might make it slightly less dense.

If I'm being honest, I do find the speaking about yourselves in the third person a bit weird though! (And yes I get you might be speaking as your alter-egos, but still a bit odd, imho!)

I just condensed it as others have said there were too many paragraphs! Ha! All good!
