I must admit I don’t get the totally shave look on a fella, chest armpits and down below

I’m not overly hairy, but let’s say I were to shave down below, where do I stop? There is no way I’m shaving my legs!!! Likewise heading north, where’s the cut off point, I like my hairy chest and have no inclination to shave it off, so do I just have a shaven band between belly button and mid thigh!!!?

I’ll stick to trimmed down below I think..
