Hi All,
I'd love to get everyones take on winking at profiles.
Do many peoeple wink one another and is it sucessful. I just wonder whether women will click bulk delete all winks and so will be none the wiser that you sent it let alone have any effect.

We use the wink system. If somebody winks then, if we like them, we wink back and wait for their email. If we wink then, if they wink back, we email with pictures. Seems a great system.
Some guys do think that an ignored wink is an invite to send emails and friends requests but that seems to miss the point. |

I get the feeling a lot of women and couples see it as a bit lazy for a guy to send a wink. At the end of the day, there are that many of us on here, it's probably going to go unnoticed. I'll only wink a couple of their profile says "single men, we will find you". I'll give them a wink just as a kind of, hey I'll make it a bit easier for you! |

I wink first and if I get one back I message (without a picture of my manhood attached) sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t. Do you ladies prefer winks or a message? |

I think everyone's different and profiles will often be a clue. |

"Whats the winking protocol please?
Wink if you're interested in someone. They may or may not reply or notice. "
But how do you know if your interested in someone or not until you've engaged in some form of conversation.

You read their profile and look at their pictures. |

Love a good wink. Over the years have had mixed results. Some react with a wink or message. Have struck up some great chat from a wink and one or two meets. |

In all honesty, I don't look at them. I also don't delete them, as it just allows someone to wink again. The same with friends in regards to friends requests haha |

I see a Wink as a cheeky Oh Hello, you look rather nice.
Always happy to get them, have a look at the sender's profile and send a nice message back.
It all good fun |

I’ll quite often wink if I like someone’s pics or profile, but they’re too far away to realistically meet. Sometimes get a wink back.
If someone local catches my eye, I’ll wink and message in the hope they’ll see either

We wink mainly rather than message to gauge interest. We'll follow up with a message if we get a reply. Been on here a couple of years and still feel like newbies so we don't go bull in a China shop throwing messages at everyone. |

I think winking is a good method to attract attention and if they like you they return the gesture...
Unfortunately it’s not that well received but I still do it .,, |

Lets face it men are grateful for any morcel of acknowledgement.
Looking at our profile is liable to generate a message. fab a pic and youre bound to get a message (hopefully restrained). A wink? Well, hellllllooooo. |

"Winking is better than hows u messages if you want the truth. Ok most ignore both but inane messages irritate people far more than a wink. "
Yeah. I delete my winks every couple of days or weeks without looking. Inane boring messages are deleted at first and blocked after repeats. |

Im confused now . Never winked as i thought it showed i was a lazy boy. Perhaps I'm guilty of the inane messages. Though never copy n paste.
So, do I wink as has been suggested, because they can't be arsed to write a long message for it to be deleted. Or wink so that it's immediately deleted. ?
Think it would be easier dating a nun. I might make a habit of it.

"Mixed opinion...Quite often we have returned a wink and had no response....So generally we don’t bother..."
From where I’m sitting (rather than standing, to avoid embarrassment) that is a shame. Who wouldn’t respond? |

Men would always respond. Women would never respond |

When we first started on here we used them and responded to them.
After a while however, we soon learnt that in the main they led nowhere - and more often than not they were sent by chancers or folks who actually had no intention of taking it anywhere.
It almost became that people only sent them for the purpose of getting a response to boost their own ego.
We’ve found that those that take the time to write out a thoughtful message actually are interested because they made some investment in making contact, and such an investment is worth a respectful and equal response (whether the interest is mutual or not).
A wink is just too easy with little investment made to whom your sending it to, so we just don’t bother with them. |

It’s a bit of a shame that there’s nothing between a wink - usually seen as lazy - and a full-blown introductory message that stands to be deleted (or worse, ignored) no matter how much effort goes into it. What’s the point of creative writing? |
