How do you start a social? Peterborough is a bit thin on the ground for us Fabbers. No club, no social. The nearest venues are 30 something miles away.
Who'd be interested in going to one.
For a smallish city, it is disappointing that there isn't one. |

pick a venue, pick a date, start a thread and message people in a certain radius...
I think you'll struggle as an unverified single male but it's worth a try. If you want something to happen you're the only person who can make it... |

Some things are beyond my control, such as mileage, filters and living in a club/social free town.
I've been chatting to some amazing fabbers, who are 1, 2, 3+ hours drive away and one's laid up, awaiting more surgery. So local isn't working for me. So I've put the word out about an all day session at Jaydees this Friday. |

Can you please expand further what you mean with regards to an all day session at the club you mentioned. I organise the Friday events there and we aren't open all day! if you are proposing anything to do with the club other than meeting the odd individual should be messaging me or the club directly. |

Maybe the guy is referring to your status of being at Jaydees all day, a turn of phrase perhaps, but at the moment he is not ingratiating himself with the clubs royalty, although all the guy is trying to do is meet up with people. |

Sorry about the confusion.
What I should have said is, I'll be in Jaydees in the daytime, then probably go over to St Neots for the afternoon and evening, then back in again after dark.
Because it wouldn't be worth driving back home to Peterborough, that's all. |

Yes, a turn of phrase and now amended. We do still need to know what a non member, unverified single guy may be organising at our venue though.... |

That's fine, but you should have been clearer in your post. It gave the impression you were organising an all day social there.( well that's how I read it) |

That's it in a nutshell! Networking pure and simple
I did get recognised there on the day, which was nice. |

There are people between Peterborough and Cambridge as well as elsewhere, where low population density means people will travel greater distance. When I spend a lot of my time there, it just becomes second nature to think of the towns as right next door, when there's a fair distance in reality.
A social doesn't need to be at a swinging venue in the slightest - it could be in a cathedral coffee shop or anywhere that people could feel comfortable getting together - the venue doesn't need to know either, unless expecting to impose massive constraints on them, when it would be sensible to chat first.
If 3 people come to a social it's still a success - don't assume it must have loads of people or fulfill demanding targets. Once it's done, do more. Or visit others elsewhere and learn.
The important thing is to take action. Have it long outside of Christmas times etc. Others will engage and steer things - perfect |

Brewery Tap. It's been a few years since I popped in for a meal and drink.
Is it advertised on FAB as I've not seen it? |
