are there many alternative people on here?
Jump to: Newest in thread
Defining a person by the music they like isn't that a bit passee
With tatts, piercings and shaved below well and truly moved into the mainstream maybe us swingers need to grow pampas grasses outside our bungalows again...
If you mean drug users well that's me out I'm straight edge well apart from the sex and alcohol |

Alternative to what? You could argue that swinging is an alternative lifestyle to start with. If you mean people on here that are into slightly more eclectic than mainstream music, body art etc. then there are plenty. They just may not choose to define themselves as alternative on their profiles since it's a pretty subjective term. |

The trouble with posting on any forum is that your post will inevitably be trolled and turned into a arguementive set of retorts. I placed this question merely as a discussion point for those persons whom are a-typically calssed as alternative persons. This is nothing in relation to the fact that indeed swingers are a soceital subculture all on our own.
Metal heads, punks, goths and all around non-normative musical tastes is what i was interested in. As you can appreciate as we are yet another stereotype within swinging. It may be nice to meet with persons whom have interests that are akin to my own. I would hardly think the evening would go well a bog standard joe bloggs normal couple coming to my house for a meet and me cranking out the napalm death!
If you could please leave the snyed comments for those that care. I simply do not, i am simply searching for people i have something in common with bar debaucherous acts. |

Ha stage dives are awesome.
She likes alt music and I'm heavily involved In the uk hardcore/beatdown/metalcore scene
Calling somebody alternative isn't really objective. People will say it as they see it I guess. Ah well!!
Our music taste is so varied |

I'm a 53 year old granny with dreads, ink and stretched lobes.
I can't abide loud, shouty music and prefer Strauss and Streisand. I live in a loft apartment and drive a 17 year old sports car.
I don't drink at all and I am the worlds worst ex-smoker. I avoid pubs and clubs (unless they are of the naked kind) and I'd rather have a natter with my mates over coffee than go to a pub.
Is that what you mean by alternative? |

Gotta love heavy metal and the likes
Although after reading this thread it's good to see people don't differenciate according to music.. never happened to me but growing up the 'chavs' used to make sport out of beating the crap out of people dressed in a band hoodie or a guy with long hair..
I did however get called a 'slipknot' a lot |

Tbh doesn't the very fact that we're on fab make us alternative? As in an alternative lifestylee?
I'm also slightly bonkers - does that make me alternative? |

Although I don't really dress like your stereotypical metalhead I have a spiky ear which makes up for it I guess |

Goth/alternative... loosely.
But dislike labels. People call me goth and I'm okay with that enjoying, as I do, much of the music, culture and aesthetic.
Yes... I generally wear black
I just dislike the confines of labels, I don't see myself really belonging to any 'camp' as such.

Good to see so many people responding to this thread, I feel at home I've always preferred music outside the mainstream but have an aversion to twisted pop music too. Post-punk, goth, electronica, ambient, industrial is where my heart is though. x |

This year I've been to ballets: both traditional and contemporary. Stage musicals like calamity Jane and west side story. Watched Shakespeare plays, both amateur and professional productions.
Was at Download (again) will be seeing machine head at rock city & Slipknot's next tour
This year wasn't much different to previous ones
I'm on the dancefloor when it's music I like, which could be lady gaga to slayer
My nose was pieced when I was 15 (was sat watching the launch show of this morning instead of being at school doing it myself)
My skin is of the decorated variety and I wear my s.o.p.h.I.e band always, because I believe passionately in what it stands for.
I don't like labels and try not to use them, keeps the mind open to all possibilities I think.
If pushed, I'd go with non conformist
Am I in the right thread? |

Similar musical taste to me lovely, I listen to everything. I have everything from Holst to Bellini, Pantera to Sisters of Mercy to Reef, Rihanna to Tiesto, different tunes for different times.
I tend to like songs rather than bands/artists. |
