I think it is probably like that already for younger people. I know that if attitudes had been different when I was in my twenties I'd have been more inclined to experiment with it rather than being embarrassed and ashamed of thinking about it.

Unlikely.
You only have to look on here, the supposedly open-minded, and how it's a divisive topic. People blocked simply for expressing potentially bi tendencies. People barred from bi events because their profile says straight. People insisting that their version of what bi means is the right one and anyone not conforming is "FAB straight" or some other slur.
Equally, whilst bisexuality with women is more socially accepted, it's still nowhere near a "social norm" and I have known many people who look down on bisexual women as in some way deviant.
Furthermore, why should it be? The number of people that need to know my sexual preferences is very small and that doesn't include my family. And f those who need to know it on the day, they don't need to know it all. As much as people should not be persecuted because of their sexuality, who people do and don't fuck is of no concern to the population at large whether they be straight, gay or something else. |
