An urban myth says that Queen Victoria 'wasn't amused' (because her statue is facing away from the town, towards the railway station). Although the reality is she never visited Reading during her reign (perhaps she didn't want to) |

We would be happy to go but don’t want people assuming that just because we meet, that we're going to take it further straight away.
Had to be said as have seen people say it’s happened to them and put them right off. |

Yep, us too. Went to one pub social a few years ago which ended up with us being surrounded as we were the only couple who showed up. |

Must all be scared of giant Cheese logs
Only true Reading people call then cheese logs"
Gotta say never understood what a cheese log is and lived in the Reading area since 5 years old. Suspect it’s something made up by Berkshire Lies |

Not Berkshire lies it’s Reading lies , the rest of us lot that live in Berkshire call them wood louse it’s only the reading lot that are weird |

It was really good. Matt Richardson was the host of the night.
Couldn’t tell you the other names though.
Hoping to go in January as there’s some recognisable comics there. I think it’s all called “just the tonic”. |

I know its not Reading but I've seen something about a Oxford social happening soon maybe touch base with the organisers and arrange something in the middle, Newbury maybe so the numbers attending would be better? |

The big issue with this is that the vast majority of posters on this thread are men. Imagine if a social was arranged. It would either be a cattle market or they wouldn’t show up. Probably better sticking g to local clubs |

Much like on any thread, most are men especially if it’s a thread to do with a named location.
If no women would attend then it would just be a load of guys having a beer and a chat. Nothing wrong with that.
If it were a thread just for couples then we’d hope that couples would join and meet for a social |
