I wouldn’t *entirely* trust it anyway. On a couple of occasions I’ve seen people reporting being from two different places at once, and were talking miles apart (50+). I suspect it’s a big of some sort in the “nearby* feature, and that the figure in the actual profile is the more accurate one |

From another thread:
"As I understand it:
There are 2 possible distances given:
The 1st is the distance from their (possibly inaccurate on grounds of anonymity) postcode to your (possibly inaccurate) postcode
Distance:
60+ miles away
(80+ driving)
The 2nd is only shown if they are on their mobile with Who's Near switched on
Right now:
They are on mobile, 60+ miles away
I presume this is the distance from their phone's location to your postcode, unless you also have Who's Near on, in which case it would be the distance between the 2 phones."
Admin added:
"If you are both on mobile with who is near on the message is something like:
"Right now:
You're both on mobile, within a mile"

It will depend on which mobile operating system you have, if you want to prevent your phone from giving the GPS info to fab.
The above info is great, explaining how fab uses the information.
On your device you'll be able to have GPS location info turned off, on or able to be requested and requiring your consent each and every time a site requests it.
Search your phone model and turning off GPS for specifically how to do it. Then fab will use your postcode as the location, wherever you are.
If your phone has it set to available, each web browser can still permit or prevent it, if you use the browser settings to do it. |
