Unable to post an Update

When I click on the star button I can only see other's updates, but can't post an update myself. I also have fabguys and the updates there gives me that option.

How can I post an Update?

I get it through clicking on the home screen on my fab app then update status tab it dont come up for me either when I click the updates tab ... hope that makes sense
