"Best place is social events or club because it will not work on here with out meeting in real life."
People meet, it's only a small percentage of people here that will only talk to or meet verified people and generally people who have so much interest they can pick and choose

A well thought out and well written profile will get you viewed.
Be imaginative in your messages, but make sure you are messaging those to whom you are likely to appeal, ie, read the profile first.
Patience and persistence is the key.
Like a pp said, not everyone will insist on you being verified in order for them to meet you.
Socials are a great way to get verified and to network.
