"Searched our username with fabswingers on Google and yep 3 forum posts are found.
"
This is a separate issue, but one I was going to raise on this thread too.
Admin is there a way to stop our forum posts (especially those with our username in the post itself) from appearing in search engine results? |

Is it different? I’m not techie.
When I google Fab and my username, the results are all me. |

If I do a search for your username and fabswingers, it gives me a few forum posts where your name is mentioned, a MILF club review written by someone else and profiles where you are on their unhidden friends list.
For the OP, I can do similar, plus look at her profile (which is currently hidden).
According to the original post (and another thread) she's checked her settings and they are all set to hidden.
The forum issue I think is to do with other people's settings (so their profile is searchable and that means their forum posts are too).
The fact that her profile is still showing when it's set to not showing is concerning. |

Are you logged in to fab when you google your user name? If you are it will show the forum and your full user name.
The forum will show even if you aren't logged in but pictures are pixellated and the first letter of your user name replaced by an asterisk. |

"P.S. providing you are logged out of fab if you click on any user name after googling it will take you to the log in page."
So then what is the point in offering to the remove from search engine option if it doesn't actually do that?
So basically those of us who thought that by selecting this option thinking that search engines wouldn't be showing our online fab action are being fog screened into thinking it does..Am I correct? |

This is the option you are offered in privacy settings.
Search engines: You can choose not to have your profile listed on search engines like google. If you opt out, your profile may take a couple of weeks to disappear from search: We have no control over this.
Allow my profile to be listed on search engines |

But it would seem it's not actually working according to a few who have posted above. |

I've just checked and I'd selected that option when I first rejoined...Just checked it again and yes I've that option to NOT have it listed on search engines. I've Google my username and fabswingers.com and all the forum posts I've commented in ate showing.
Yes it hides a couple letters of my user name and blurs my pic...But the fact that it's showing in Google search engine shows that option is NOT WORKING in fab options.
Please can admin address this. The search engines should not be able to have access if the option is chosen that they are restricted. |

This needs sorted quickly Admin. I wonder how many others know they're activity on fab is shown on search engines.
All one needs to know is their profile name and they can check what is said. Hiding 2 or 3 letters of their profile name doesn't hide it at all if one knows it already . |

We do not use our real names or show face pics so it's not a real issue for us..but that is not good..this is a swinging/sex site not Twitter..it all should be kept private |

Just searched ours and nothing came up..mind you our user name is pretty mainstream and probably gets lost in internet land |

You did read this bit?
Search engines: You can choose not to have your profile listed on search engines like google. If you opt out, your profile may take a couple of weeks to disappear from search: We have no control over this.
And noted that it said that your PROFILE won't show in search results, it doesn't say that forum post won't show up, just your profile.
And as Nicecouple said further up - that if you are logged into Fab whilst searching your profile name that it WILL show up. Log out and search and it DOESN'T show. |

The forums are public..you don't have to be a registered site user to read them. It's one of the reasons why it's advised not to give out details about events on the threads only in private messages.. so Joe public don't get to see. |

I just googled your profile name. I only got a hit for a forum post, not your profile. |

In answer to you first bit.. I did mention I'd ticked that do not show in search engines when I first signed up ... so the 2 week thing doesn't apply... But I see what you're saying about post.
May I make a suggestion then that instead of only hiding a couple letters can Admin look into hiding the whole profile name? Unless of course Admin are wanting and benefiting from non members/past/banned/deleted members from following forums that people are posting in. |

Maybe you need to clear your cache too... Just a thought but then that's from your own phone and Google uses that info for your future searches. |

"Why are the forums open for public viewing anyway? I had no idea they were,I thought I was posting within the privacy of the membership..."
Nope...Your privacy dare I say it is misplaced here
Ideally it should be private or made as private as possible which clearly there is some other reasons why they don't want to for now.
If there was a bigger pressure applied by its members to make things private, the would as they can do it. Till then you're very exposed unfortunately. |
