It's usually because either they have blocked people your age or have blocked all males ect ect. It normally says the reason, sounds like the reason bit is getting left off for some reason when you are trying. Could be the app you using or something XXX

Yep - figured it out - looks like they were banned from the site between the time I started typing my message and hit the send button
