The mysterious 176th post

We've noticed a thread that was 'closed' and unable to be posted on after the 175th thread, and ten a couple of hours later someone had put another post on.

How can this happen?

I believe that if you've started to write a post while the thread is open, and then you hit "Post Message" your post will still be added. I think there have been some deliberately extended threads ... 185 is longest I can find!

It's the number of posts when you open the page the thread is on, of there is less than 175 there is a link to reply. You might spend as hour reading 174 posts, but the link to reply will still be there and clicking on it will allow you to reply. If there are 175 or more posts they links don't appear so you cant post
