Photo problem?

I've been sent a message with a face pic but when I try to view there is only a symbol, like the pic has been deleted or the link is broken? I told the sender the problem and he said he would make his pic public but the same thing is happening. He said he can see them ok.

Try clearing your cookies and cache on your device or try logging out and back in again

Tried logging out, no difference. Will try clearing cache. Thanks.
