so, nothing in my profile settings has been changed. I normally search for profiles within a 50 mile radius.. no problems, but all of a sudden, profiles up to 75 mile radius appearing.. anyone else noticed similar??

We changed something behind the scenes for performance reasons

It means sometimes we look a mile or two outside the requested search radius

We are looking at fixes

Quite a few issues actually, one being that ive been talking to a particular person, and all of a sudden I've been getting loads of people from same area as them either looking at me or messaging me and I know that they've not been shouting their gobs off..weird..

Thanks. Glad to know you are on the case. I too keep to a 50-mile zone, but that for me has resulted in the past few days getting results 250 miles away on occasions.

Yeh, Ive noticed people from total random parts of the country popping up on my 'looked at me' too.

Not particularly bothered just as long as it's quirks in the search

One week on, and no improvement in the situation. I too am getting spurious views from distant outposts of the country. (my normal limit is 50 miles)

Any idea when the cure for this is likely to be implemented?

If this is a by-product of a fix for something else, then how bad was the other problem? Which outweighs the other? Can't the site be rolled back to the version before the "fix" that caused these problems?

The only impact the change made is if you have searched for say 30 mile radius we may include results from approx 35 miles, so a couple of miles outside requested distance

What exact problem are you having?

My selected search distance is 50miles. I get a lot of results from further away than that. Chester is an example of one location that produces many "hits" - must be a swinging hotbed there lol.

Birmingham to Chester according to Google is 75.9 miles, so actually exceeds the next search radius limit of 75 miles, let alone the 50 miles limit chosen.

Chester isn't alone in being a "distant" location producing results but it is a good example, as it alone produced 5 results on page 1 of a search that I've just done. I wouldn't mind 50 miles becoming 55m but 75 miles is a step up from that.

Cheers

Have you tried reducing the search radius to see if you are happier with the results?

The 40 mile radius searches appear to be much better. I haven't done any measurements to be exact, but the places in the search results are "familiarly local" enough to be trusted.

Why 40 miles works and 50 miles doesn't is a mystery though.
