Hi , If some-one has posted something in a forum and it has been removed? what does that mean?
a, who has removed it? and why?
are moderators the only people who can remove quotes from a forum.

You are able to remove your own posts but it is only available to the poster for a few minutes. |

the message above (removed by me) is what you see when someone removes their own post (upto 5 mins after posting)
any other missing posts will be a mod removing them as the rules have been broken somewhere

"What he said ^^^^
Plus a mod can remove a post.
how can you tell if post has been removed by mod? xx"
You don't find out at all, you just notice it is missing. Its something I have run up against in the past and think it is just so wrong. Why should a post be removed without any explanation?
I have always been of the opinion that if a moderator can take the time to read a post and then delete it, they can find the the time to send a short message to the poster stating the reason for removal.
No matter what they say about receiving too many messages to reply to them all, what it really means is that they want to stay anonymous and unidentified. You will after time though realise who are and who are not moderators and just who the good and who are poor at doing such a job. |

To be honest B and K, it isn't about mods getting too much mail for us.....we have sent people mail explaining why their post was removed and have ended up on the end of abuse and that is from the people who you think may have been ok to recieve such mail and that isn't why we are here.
If you then tell the people that they will need to speak to Admin as we have made the call at the time, you then get more abuse because you are passing the buck, so you can't win to be honest.
We do try and send mails to the people now who we HOPE will take an odd post coming off as just that, but it isn't compulsory for a mod to send a mail.

it would be good though to have a 'deleted by moderator' displayed, incase it was following up a particular part of the thread, therefore perhaps the following response after the deleted one may look a bit 'odd' otherwise... Just my 2p worth |

I've used the contact button but never had a reply. |

Yeah, what nasty mods there are on here, they won't let someone call another member a twat...
If you think any ban is wrong the best place to ask for it to be reviewed is through the CONTACT button...if the ban is a wrong ban, Admin will lift it for you.

well if you read the forums, so many people complain about the rudeness of no replys etc ... so why should admin not at least send an acknowledgement that it has been received and read ?? |

If you want to up the site supporter subscription to £50 a month so that the site can employ mods and admins to reply to all messages then Im sure everyone would get one.
In the meantime, as mods are all volunteers, part of the 'community' who are trying to make the site safe and friendly and im sure want to have their own fun, there simply isnt time.

This is taken from the FAQS ......
You don't respond to any of our mails.
We do this for fun and get hundreds of mails a day so we can't respond personally to questions about the site or your account. If we responded to everything that people sent us, we'd spend all our time (and more!) doing that and not improving/running/fixing the site. Or, we'd have to employ customer service goons to read and respond to questions from a minority of users at everyone's expense and we'd not be able to do as much as we can for so little cost to you. We do read all mail you send and encourage feedback. If you have reported a problem with the site we will fix it.

Just one last question then, if I use the contact button and make my complaint, how can it be 'reviewed' if the offended comment has already been taken off?
I enjoy the forums and am grateful for the work of the moderators, but if indeed it does all boil down to money I won't mind paying a little extra!
Can non site supporters use the forums?
Oops that's an extra question sorry |
