Is this a scammer?

I messaged someone and they replied giving a phone no. "0044 74etc" to text. They had looked at my profile. I was about to text to the number given, when I stopped and thought about it. So, I went back to the profile - it had gone. Back to "looked at me" - gone, then the strange bit, back to sent messages-gone, and the same with the "read" message. If the member leaves the site "User no longer on site" appears against both sent and read messages and they are only deleted by oneself. But nothing, no trace. How is that possible?

What made me stop texting, was why someone in Sunderland would ask you to text a number given in a format that only someone abroad would use? If you are outside of the UK, you would need to press 0044 and omit the zero in front of the 7. If you were in the UK, you would only press "074etc". All very strange. If Admin want to investigate I can supply the number given, and the ID.

Why don't you google the number and see what it says.

But also do t text a number unless you are positive it is a mobile.

And lastly, I think if a profile is bann d from the site, all traces ie messages disappear

thanks. I will not text or ring the number given. I don't think they had been on long enough to be banned, were on the first page of "New Women".

As far as I know, any number starting 004474... would be a UK mobile.

I store numbers on my phone in 0044 (or +44) format, so that they work if I'm abroad. If I copied a number from my phone book and pasted into a message, it would have that format. I have my number in my phone book, because I can't remember it.

HOWEVER, that doesn't mean it isn't a scam!

As suggested try Googling the number!

O o O oo

Sometimes when users leave the site their mails go too now.

Having said that, it might be best if you send the number to Admin from the CONTACT button explaining why , just in case

I think when a user leaves the site it says User No Longer....blah blah...

When Admin closes the account and kicks them off, all their stuff disappears.

I posted an issue on here recently with a private mobile that start 0706.....the 044 or +44 bit is not a worry..it's the fact it's not a "normal" looking number. Google it.
