Hi I've been flat out busy and not replied to messages for a couple of weeks. Sat down to reply to some today and a chunk of them seem to have disappeared, older and newer messages are there so I've not accidentally deleted all. Any ideas? Paige x |

Messages only stay for a while and I am not sure how long before they disappear completely, secondly some will appear to have disappeared but are on the next page, best thing to do is go through the first page, delete those you don't want to read, respond and delete those that you do and older messages will appear at the bottom of the page. It should however tell you how many you have  |

This has happened to me - several messages have disappeared over the last couple of weeks. I only keep a few in the sent box, I've not accidentally deleted them and the users I sent them to are still active.
I looked in there today and there's only 1 message - there were 4/5 yesterday! They were all sent within the last few weeks. Something strange is going on! |

I had one disappear that was over a year old (a friend and I used it to navigate to her page quickly) but guessed that went due to the age of the message, but I had ones that were the last in a series and was keeping them to renew the chat with next time. All were less than 2 months old. Also there were a couple of unread ones that I was waiting to see what happened with them. All very frustrating.
My received ones don't seem to have suffered at all though, which is lucky as, like you, I don't get that many either....  |

Frenchbambi - when a message is deleted by the receiver it just shows as deleted but still there. There is clearly a glitch on the site causing this problem. It's just a shame no-one from admin is answering. |

That makes sense! give Admin a chance, I'm sure they'll comment and give helpfull advice soon  |

Messages deleted by recipient are deleted from the system after a few days. There is some more info on FAQ about when messages are deleted.
We would love to keep messages for longer but over a million messages are sent each day and we have to strike a balance

I've noticed at least one of my saved messages has been deleted. I also can't find the users profile that sent it. Like the OP when profiles are deleted the message stays but tells you the user is no longer there. The message in question is not the oldest of my saved messages either ?? |

As Betty says - this is not as simple as admin has said. There's something strange going on with the messages. Some are being deleted from the system, whether read or not, whether the recipient is still there or not, and it's nothing to do with age of the message. It's only recently started to happen - in the last couple of weeks - to me.
I'm not bitching or moaning, I'm trying to draw attention to something before it becomes a real issue across the entire site. |

OK thanks - Ill try and remember the details but s I've got a memory like a, oh, what's it called - one of those things you drain ad sift stuff in - it might take some doing. Appreciate the help though. |
