Slightly different question. How are people who I don't have as friends or anything sending me messages when my profile is hidden. Have had two this morning  |

Because the link to send you messages is still there even with your profile hidden and they could also send you a message from the "Reply privately" link in the forums |

All hiding your profile does is, remove it from searches and hides the text to all. If you have pictures on public, they can still be seen.
You can still be contacted and still show online to anyone that has hotlisted or even blocked you |

Mine has been hidden for ages as I got fed up with it not being read. Changed it to showing earlier and lasted about 1 hr before deciding yet again that people can't read.  |

Reset your filters to extremes like setting the age range you're looking for to 95-99. Then unless you've exchanged messages before they can't contact you.  |
