There seems to be a glut of threads on certain subjects which some can find tedious and in cases quite offensive to themselves personally.

Ones about the larger people amongst us, being one of the more commonly started, its okay to say ignore it but some people like to speak up for themselves.

Would it be a good idea to place the forum search button/link right next to the start new thread link? Maybe with a polite reminder to use the search function to check whether there is a current thread they can peruse before starting the same old thread over and over. There have been numerous threads on TV/TS started where it is obvious that the op is small minded and have not really started the thread to increase their understanding of the subject, more to try and isolate minorities. I have read suggestions about sticky threads before and generally don't like them, especially when they become numerous, however maybe the forum rules with a bit of advice on using the forum search function would be a good idea at the start of each forum.

You would have to hope people read the forum rules before they posted, and most don't seem to.

For repetitive threads, it isn't really a problem unless there are a few started at the same time ( give or take a few hours ) and then mods normally stop the latest ones if they see them.

If any are missed, report them and they get dealt with.

Yes you can count me amongst the didn't read the rules before starting to post group I suppose it's only a bore for the people who have taken to the forums and hung around a while who notice the frequency of which some of these threads appear. Whilst they're are I'm sure not intended to be personal, some people can take them personally. I do think if the search forum and start new thread functions were side by side it might help the situation a little.

There are some topics that will inevitably get discussed repeatedly but that doesn't necessarily them any less valid.

There are so many active threads on here at any one time that passing the ones that don't interest you is hardly difficult is it

I hadn't looked at any bans you may have had so didn't mean you personally x

I think thats a good point you make....it is just a bore for the regulars.

If newbies were stopped from posting what they think are relevant threads then there would be put off joining in for fear of upsetting people who may get bored.

I suppose the bored people could avoid the threads they don't like so they don't take things personally or get bored

PS if Admin can do this there wouldn't be anything to lose though

No it's not difficult and I generally do, or just troll the thread by chatting shit and derailing it, I started chatting to a regular poster last night by pm who is getting to the point of not bothering anymore because of the constant digs at people. As I quite enjoy reading this persons posts I thought it was a bit of a shame that they felt that way. I tend to take most things posted on any forum with a pinch of salt.

And you don't think some people may find it "tedious and in cases quite offensive to themselves personally" if you just go on to a thread to "troll the thread by chatting shit and derailing it"?

What goes around comes around…

When the initial intent is to cause offence to certain people then why not. A certain poster recently has started a thread on why transsexuals shouldn't be able to change their birth certificates, after getting a reaction on another thread after stating tgirls not being allowed out in public… would you expect me to treat any of his posts with any degree of respect? I could go and start a thread about how I think Scotland would be a failure as an independent nation, which judging by your location you might find offensive or insulting. I don't think that by the way, but I could have a few Scots people chomping at the bit in no time at all. I could then reword it slightly and start all over again.

near lincoln

Maybe have more headings. The boosts could be categorised better. Lounge and swinger help are a bit vague to any new people. Maybe have headings like male problems, female problems , profile help, fun and games, opinions and health. Then people would see similar threads to theirs and may not post a new one.

Nah I agree it would be a failure as an independent nation; so go ahead and post it if you want to!

You're being as bad as they are if you believe it is ok to act like that in the forums but hey-ho, you go for it if that is your thing!

You can't have one rule for some and not for all, so happy trolling.

Have to say I agree. Really not seeing the logic in tackling perceived trolling by trolling them.

If you think someone is breaking rules then report it, but if they are banned for it and you are doing the same thing then don't be suprised if you are banned also.

As this seems like a grievance you have with another member more than anything else then maybe it is time to shut now
