One of the points when uploading photos is...
No 4. The photo can't have another site's watermark on it.
...yet I've recently seen a couple of profiles that have the watermark of another site on them.
Does anyone actually look at the photos when approving them for the site?

Yes.
But given that there are many thousands of photos needing approval each day it's inevitable that there will be some mistakes.
Each photo has a REPORT link underneath it though which lets users report to admin photos that they think break site rules.
