Would be really useful to have an edit button , so you can go back into a post and edit out any mistakes , the same for messages

It would be misused OP by people wanting to change the point they were making based on the comments received .Or even deleted by the poster.

I can plenty who try and change what they have said as it is. At the moment it's messages. I'd love to meet you now can travel. I tell them no one should be meeting, their response oh I didn't mean now but I am in my car

I'd like to resurrect this and say an edit button would be great. It's a bit like Twitter on here, once posted it's committed.

I know there is the option to delete and start again, but sometimes you (well me) don't see the mistake straight away.

Yes the edit button is open to abuse and people could edit what they said if they get negative feedback. That's easily rectified by setting a time limit on how long after posting you can edit (like the delete option). And/Or limit the amount of times a comment can be edited. There are ways around limiting people editing comments that cause offense.
