Please help. We have just been told that we have had a picture from this site put on another site by someone. The picture has not been cropped and yet its minus the fab water mark on the bottom. How could this happen. We have not done this ourselves.

Why don't you right-click protect our photos to stop others stealing / saving them?

We believe in being straighforward with the members of Fab. Right click protect doesn't work and gives a false sense of security by pretending to "protect" images. Other sites may pretend they've protected your images but actually they're being dishonest by claiming that.

Right click "protect" can be gotten around in under 2 seconds by any of the following methods:

Simplest: Goto File menu, Save As, and save to desktop = The photos will be in a folder on your desktop that your browser has created.

OR... Disable JavaScript by going to Tools menu, choose Internet Options, Click the Security tab, click Custom Level, scroll to the "Scripting" section of the list and click Disable. Right click can now be used to save images.

OR... Press print screen and the image + page will be copied to clipboard where it can be pasted into a graphics program for resize or save.

We give you three privacy options on your photos and we now hide images from anyone who isn't a member of Fab. If you are worried about someone stealing your photos you may want to set them to be viewable only by your friends, or private in which case you can send by private mail.

We also now watermark all photos upon upload.

The above is from the FAQ.

I understand that you need to contact the site your photo is on and ask them to take it down.

This happened to me and a few others in the past. A little bit of detective work and it was actually the kind chap who notified me that my whole profile/pictures was on another site who had done it. It was a sneaky way in for him to chat to me. He's been booted off site but comes back and tries his tricks again occassionally. Think about it: do you know and trust the person who contacted you? Out of all the 1000's of profiles on here and that other site what is the possibily of a stranger matching 2 pics? Report to admin, include the name of the profile who told you and only have pics on here you are not bothered about being stolen.

Admin can't do anything about pictures on another site. It's best to report to the site they're on.

Admin did in my case cos they did it to a few ladies profiles. If no body reports then they get away with it. My advice would be to report to admin anyhow, let them look at the bigger picture whether they are doing it to others. Also report to the other site. But also learn from it cos once you publish pics on here/anywhere on the net then anyone can pinch them.
