Anyone else notice these?..I hit on one of the fab buttons yesterday and a porn or dating site popped up..I just put it down to me being careless and not looking what I was doing..then, today I received a message, clicked on the link as normal to open it and up came another site, dating I think..I hit the delete button before I read it properly as it could have been weird shit..
I know for a fact I haven't picked up anything from other porn sites as I never look at them, nor does the wife..
Anyone else had this problem? |

Would be ideal to know which site popped up with an ad - if it's Lovehoney etc, then it would explain it being sourced from here, I guess.
I have pop-ups generally blocked by my browser, so don't see them, but occasionally ease restrictions for some sites. I'd definitely do a virus/malicious software scan, and also have a firewall, which can restrict access too - I don't just use the Microsoft firewall, for example. |

Cheers...I'll run a couple of scans, strange thing is though it only happens when I click on something from this site, well so far.
I will try to clock the name of the pop up next time.
I really hope this isnt going to be a re-format job. |

a simple way of not having that prob,is just format a portion of your hdd for windows,,then leave the rest of it for general stuff,as most viruses and the like go for windows registery all the rest should be fine |

Right then...I have run the virus checker, all clear there..I havnt got anything to pick up malware unfortunately..
But its seems to be whenever I hit the area that says I have a new message on here..the site is one of those 'chat to your dream woman ..online now' blah blah blah type..
If it is a virus, which now seems unlikely it appears to have locked itself to this site only for some reason..
All cookies are set to expire at the end of the online session..I have zone alarm, and antivir running in the background all the time too..
I will try logging of and back on to see if that shifts it..
Admin, SJ if you get this, thanks for your message, unfortunately I couldn't reply with the situation so far.. |

"Thanks Ruby...can anyone recommend a malware scanner ?"
The best one by far is called:
superantispyware..its free. Ive used this for years and it picks up stuff that even paid for antimalware/antispyware miss.

"no mate,,wasnt on that one,,but,im running a detailed scan on my test pc for all sorts of malware/viruses and trojans,,so will keep you updated"
Cheers...well so far I have run the comp through two virus checkers, anti spy/malware and trojans...nothing apart form a couple of small items and the usual tracking cookies..and I have a few pop up blockers running in the background too..
I have been using 3 or 4 other (non naughty) forums over the last 24 hours..not one pop up..logged on here..bosh! soon as..
That said..it only does it the once, normally within the first few minutes..and only after I hit on a button/link etc..

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum |
I got one last month. If it isn't cleared by malware detectors go into your 'Add/Remove Programmes' list and see if anything has been added lately. Chances are it's attached to that. I downloaded a Winzip substitute and got a shopping malware attached. Removed it and the links all went. |

"Cheers both....x"
Nothing to do with Fab; the only ads we serve are for LoveHoney and these are served from our own servers. Sounds very much like you have adware/malware
Microsoft Security Essentials is usually ok for preventing.

Thanks SJ...its obviously picking something up then from this sites meta tags..probably the same if we logged onto a similar site..
In the meantime I will continue to run anto mal/adware programs to see if it picks them up..
I think I might have 'damaged' it as im now getting 'server not found' pop up instead of the actually ad..
Cheers for the help.. |
