Personal email

I'm wondering just how secure the Fabswingers servers are.

I had an email sent to my personal email address at 3.20am this morning, it's the email I used to register to this site. The email had "Southwilts" in the subject header. The message said "Hi southwilts, I'm in Wiltshire you fancy a meet".

The message said it was from "Jane" but the email address was obviously from a spam site.

So how did this spammer get my email address? I never given it to anyone on here, even when I've arranged a meet, but this spammer has it and also used my site name.

I'm not happy about this, I was a site support in 2019 so wonder if my bank details I used then to pay are safe?

hiding from cock pics.

I have never received an email from the site or anybody managing to get my email address from being on here, and I have been on here over a decade. Maybe you gave the address to a different company also?

Nope, never use same profile name anywhere else.

There's a bunch of these going round at the moment. Link from Sophos, computer security firm, from April 2020, explains more:

https://nakedsecurity.sophos.com/2020/04/10/sextortion-emails-and-porn-scams-are-back-dont-let-them-scare-you/

Quote: "In reality, the video doesn’t exist and the whole thing is a scam to prey on your fears."

These are all scams, no one has a video of you. The quoted password is usually from an old data leak (as per above, google "have i been pwned" and check your email. Fab doesn't store password in plain text. We store a hash, and a unique salt per user, and iterate it hundreds of thousands of times. It's nearly impossible to go from that hash, to a password (if we wanted to for example, we couldn't).
