"Here's five for starters

West Ham
West Brom

You've got 1 more current and 4 ex.. And a debate able one"

All correct....
2 ex English and a debate able one
1 ex scotish..
East Stirling could have 2 entries...
Mid 60s for one season they amalgamated with clydebank and were known as East Stirling Clydebank, if seen as as a seperate entity then you could argue there are 5 teams in scotland |

"There was a top flight club once upon a time called glossop North end"
A club that any arsenal fan should tip their hat to in gratitude....
Also not sure if still applies since forest Green got promoted, but was famous for being smallest populated town to host football league team.
Correct, though you're not that far up the road from Glossop being in hyde
1 English ex to go
1 scotish ex to go |

I appreciate you observance...
One could have titled thread just "football quiz"
But then many may have wondered, was it a quiz on association football, on rugby football, Wether that being Union or league, on Irish (gaelic) football, on Australian rules football, on American football or even on Canadian football..
So by just saying soccer, folk are instantly going to know which code the quiz is about..
So you don't mind if I tell you you can stick your attempts at being wise arse in your pie and smoke it... |

The missing teams being
England.... South shields, think in 30s they moved ground into neighbouring Borough of gateshead and changed name to gateshead..
Scotland.. Whenever first scotish league took place a competing team from Glasgow took part called Northern..
Believe they only lasted 1 season...
The debate able one....
Well whilst the clubs name is not a compass point, it's name means a particular compass point...
Orient... |
