Has anyone tried the game 'Wordle' yet?
It's a website based game that only refreshes the puzzle once a day. It's pretty simple, but challenging enough to be addictive. |

I don't think so. Part of the charm of it is that it's one shot a day.

Went into setting and discovered there is a 'hard mode' .....

Paradoxically, it seem to be more successful in hard mode, as it discourages me from making wild guesses. |

I'd never have thought of proxy on my first attempt. Especially as it has two of the least used letters in the alphabet in it.
I didn't get yesterday's at all. I wasn't taking any notice of the colours  . To be fair to me the examples don't even mention what the colours mean - not clearly.
Now i've found the rules online I know what im doing.
Today I got it in two.

I've got a few and i've also based those first words on knowledge of English .... e.g. most occuring letters, most occuring first etc etc.... None of them help |

I've learned that the first word doesn't really matter.
It's just good fortune if you get some letters on the first go. |

I use a different word to start each time. I think of the 1 point letters in Scrabble but don't use the 's'. 'Y' is 4 points so I wouldn't use that in an opening guess. |

Yes my first letter was B.
Thought I'd risk the spelling as it was the only one I could think of. Then the correct one jumped out at me.
The American spellings are a bit unfair. But the game started in Australia which may indicate some variation.
The Favor day is the only time I haven't got it |

It helps in that situation to abandon the right letters. So day you had fight as the 3rd guess, and knew that ight were correct, then guess something like misty next so so you're effectively trying might, sight and tight in one go |

I started with unity, and got *ight by the third go. Purely by luck I got the correct first letter on the fourth.

I was 4. I had a choice of two initial letters and chose the wrong one first.
I'm happy with 3 or 4 usually..... 1 couldn't be anything else except luck or cheating.
The game is popular via the thinking around possibilities and formations... me thinks |

My first word was BORED giving me the D in the right position and the R in the wrong place AND letting me know that there was no O or E and no B......
I kept thinking of words that started with R but without a O or E that didn't give me many choices. Same with the ending - I knew it couldn't be ED
Then twigged the ending string and presto .... second entry was correct. |

A positive about absurdle is that it narrows down possibilities making you work harder to create a word .....
A negative is that after all the logic and reasoning employed - it says..... You GUESSED after 7 tries.....
Only the first one is a guess and even then i've learned to get rid of awkward letters to start with ...

I tried Lewdle again today. I started with "crude" which it told me wasn't acceptable. So I put pants. The next 15 words I tried weren't accepted because they weren't considered lewd enough. |
