Maggie May again, and not the Rod Stewart version, but the one we used to sing in pub with all the Liverpool lads after a days work on sites, back in the days before playing online Scrabble with your, "Friend" in outer Mongolia had even been thought of.
But then when you were with the Welsh Boys it was more likely to be:
Now I have an Aunty Mary,
And she's working in the dairy,
But the farmers sack 'er,
Cos she tried to milk a tractor.
Chorus:
Did you ever saw? Did you ever saw
Such a funny thing before.
And on the next verse:
Now I have an Aunty Kitty,
And she only got one titty etc etc
Followed by a song to the tune of "The Ash Grove."
Her name was Maggie Morgan,
She came from Glamorgan,
And the hairs on her dicky di doe
Hung down to her knees.
Chorus:
And the hairs on her dicky di doe,
The hairs on her dicky di doe,
Hung down to her knees.
I'm may not be be Welsh, but I'm lucky enough to live in the land of song where we keep a welcome in the hillside etc etc, or any convenient lay bye. |

You ended up lapsing into “the mayor of Bayswater” there. Does that count as a woman’s name? |
