Beziers
Montpelier
Nimes

Those are in order of distance. |

Lots of our Irish friends flew to Stansted and then onto Beziers from there ... |

"Bit premature for this aren't we.. " Hi . Those who visit Cap d Agde annually tend to plan a long way in advance . Most weeks in an apartment which I let are already booked by long standing customers . The occupancy rate is already 83 % . However the agent which I used did an excellent job and his service was superior to that of larger agents . He has now retired after providing four years of top quality service . Luckily I have found a new agent who will be as good , if not better .
However not all visitors to Cap book in advance . A friend of mine never books in advance and takes what is available when he arrives . This is a high risk strategy and you would need to have contingency plans in place should nothing be available . Some agents struggle to let all their apartments ( probably for good reasons ) . With a last minute booking you may end up with an apartment that no one wants or a bargain ( by Cap standards ) .
Last time my friend paid in excess of £2000 for a villa for two weeks |

"We've never been but are planning on going in August, any advice or recommendations of where to stay or clubs/bars to visit would be welcome. " Hello. If you have never been before August may not be the best month to go. It is peak season and prices are at their highest. Accommodation wise , it is usually an apartment which will be in one of the following areas . Port Nature , Port Venus , Port Soleil , Port Ambonne or Heliopolis. Cap d Agde is an expensive place , all the fun comes at a price.

Heading to the area for the 8th consecutive year. First time in our campervan. Arriving mid June for 10 days and staying at Beauregard campsite in Marseillan Plage. Will be on the beach most days and hoping my loving wife will push her boundaries a little further this year. |

"Hopefully the virus fears means the accommodation costs will plummet " However most accommodation in Cap is booked up to a year in advance and probably only the poorer or overpriced accommodation is still available.
If accommodation costs were to plummet it would probably be due to the virus being seriously out of control. In this scenario there would probably be restrictions on movement and Cap would be difficult ( if not impossible ) to get to. |

Natureva Spa booked for 30June to 7July, flights all booked and paid for transfer taxi sorted.
Now can we please ban any talk of the bloody virus closing the place down.
There’s more than enough scare mongering and fake news doing the rounds, without FS getting caught up in it . |

We are there 23rd June to 8th July. We use A2A taxis for transfer. Booked and paid in advance through PayPal and worked perfectly for us last year.
With regards to the virus, it would take a zombie apocalypse to stop us going. Cap is too good to miss for anything! |

If Cap was in Lombardy right now, no-one would be going.
To us there are three fears about Cap and Covid_19.
1, There are travel restrictions either in UK or France therefore not ALLOWED to go.
2, The peak virus time in France / UK is late May / early June and we get it and can't go.
3, We get the virus in France and it lays us low while we're in Cap thus spoils our holiday there and the other places we were going after Cap.
Personally of the three I'd prefer No. 1. At least then the travel insurance would cover the costs incurred. |

We would agree with you and watching closely as we are booked for June. Main concern is if we get to go what will be open? If we are still in the middle of this then unlikely that the clubs will be open and not sure about restaurants etc. Let's hope for a speedy change for the better, not just for our holiday but for the world as a whole. |

Well we had found a great deal with booking.com
back in January, another wonderful week in Cap was planned for mid June early July.
But tonight we’ve cancelled thinking even if this awful situation had eased, it’s still not going to be the same this year.
So roll on next summer and something nice to look forward to. |

The impact of all of this will extend well into next year!
Many holiday companies will go out of business and may well make it tricky to get somewhere to stay next year, how places like the clubs will cope remains to be seen ! For example the Sauna club also has a place in Narbonne near us which is also closed down , thats 2 businesses with no income |

Absolument!
2020 season is a write off!
2021 season may happen- but probably only a short season?
I think it will take 2/3 years for recovery to happen!

Good word that, IF, there’s no chance what so ever things will get back to normal in 2020 ." Sadly it is going to take a very long time to get back to normal . One only has to look at the fall in value of stock exchanges throughout the world . It is only when the virus has died will we be able to make a true assessment of the long term damage . Microsoft have already decided not to pay a dividend and if things continue other companies will have no option but to cut dividends ( which in turn will reduce investors income ) in order to preserve cash flow .
It might only take a major airline to go under and the era of cheap airline travel could abruptly come to an end . The days of flying to Cap d Agde for £50 one way could be gone for ever .
Airlines are in a fight for survival . The shares of the Dart Group ( the parent company of Jet2 ) have fallen from £19 to £4 in less than a month. ( and this is a company with a £1.7 billion cash pile .
Whilst share prices have always recovered after a crash ( assuming they survive ) , we may have to wait many years and time is not on everyones side .
It would of course be great if Cap d Agde returned to normal by June . I believe that this is highly unlikely but it would be great to be proved wrong .
I never thought that I would see a security guard guarding toilet paper and shelves virtually empty in a supermarket . |

Absolutely,
This virus has created a seismic change and although early days I don't think things will be the same again, not just in the Cap but in all areas of our economic lifes |

13th of which month?
I assume the poster has read the thread title ..
Then I think they mush be the most hopefully and optimistic people on Planet Earth !!"
I think June is dead and buried as far as Cap is concerned and I doubt that July will fare any better.
August is (at best) very iffy and once September kicks in then the season is pretty much over anyway.
I think for the businesses at Cap 2020 is a write off. What will still be there for 2021 is anybody's guess. |

Its going to be a tricky year , we have a B&B near Narbonne about 35km from Cap D'agde, we have no bookings April, May and June have had cancellations so we have decided the year will probably a washout and we will celebrate any business we get.
With regards to Cap, we will be going when it is reopened and support what we can , we think French will visit but clealry this will have a huge impact on businesses and some may not survive, some may lower prices , who knows.
We hope there will be some people around when it reopens, but when that is will remain to be seen |

I have exercised today, and the beaches have been cordoned off, barriers preventing access, notices warning of fines, and no entry signs for those who cannot read! The whole of Cap d'Agde is like something from a science fiction film, only food shops and the laundry are open. Normally this time of the year is busy with renovations, but nothing, I did note 2 having work being done, but only 1 person is allowed in an empty house/apartment. Until there is a vaccine, nothing will open here, and as stated, will they be here next year? |

We booked oltra for 27/06-04/07 and we were so exited for going. Unfortunately, this corona situation pressured decision on us to rebook it and the new date will be 29/08-06/09. We still will be in oltra and still with tent and still will ask oltra to let us book same pitch on Allee plage 70... Stay safe all of you and we hope to see you there in cap xx |

We have an email from Ryanair this morning cancelling our June 25th flights from Luton to Beziers. We were offered full refund or changes of dates for no charge. Opted for refund, got standard text saying it would be returned back to payment method used to book it with, but could take up to 20days. |

France, And sometimes in |
At the moment the French borders are closed to tourists until 30th October as part of the original French lockdown. Some people that meet specific criteria are allowed to enter so that's why some flights are operating but definately no tourists. At the beginning of this week the French government said that they will review the border situation and access for tourists at the beginning of June and make an announcement on 15th June. Until then no one can know when you can travel to France irrespective of any airline having flights open for booking in June, July or August. |

With football we used to do boat trips to certain away games from Southend pier and also double decker open top buses (not from the pier) and it was indeed great fun but imagine 30 or so swingers on a cruise to Cap wow that would just be off the chart.

Luton flights don’t open until August. We are still waiting for the end of May announcement on lifting some restrictions, which will come into effect on 2 June. We can’t get there, and we only live 122 km away! |
