I’d give Switzerland a miss for a while, as there’s been a couple of storms passing through this week, complete whiteouts so no lifts open, plus we’ve have 2 days of avalanches |

Snow’s great. And still snowing now. Can’t see a thing"
Yep, been snowing all day. We only did the first couple of hours, then retired back to the chalet.
Tomorrow will be bluebird though apparently |

We were meant to be going to Ischgl on Saturday for a week but it has been closed down along with most of Austria. Not sure if it’s worth trying to go to a Swiss resort or will everywhere just end up closing? |

From what I've read it's just the Ischgl area that's shut, and they have jumped on that really quickly (compared to other areas) so containment should be great.
Noone seemed fussed in Gastein Last week (got home on Saturday) |

I’ve just taken out insurance with “snowcard” - at the moment their T&Cs show that they WILL cover cancellation because of infectious diseases; if you’re not insured yet, might be a good time to buy it!! |

"We are worrying about the French resorts now.
Meant to be flying out Sunday....
let’s see what happens. "
We were meant to be going out on Saturday to Os en Oisans in France but some of the party have been put on lockdown by their work and are unable to travel so we have decided not to go. |

THE TIROL SKI RESORTS ALL TO CLOSE DUE CORONAVIRUS
The announcement was made this evening and though expected is still a shock. Other ski resorts across the Alps are now considering following suit.
The winter ski season is over in the 90 odd resorts in the Tirol in Austria and likely everywhere else in the country.
Resorts in France and Switzerland will be looking at the implications for them.
In a short statement tonight Tirol Tourism said the lifts in all the resorts will close on Sunday 15th and the hotels and accommodation the following day, Monday 16th.
“The health of our guests, employees and those in the Tirol is our first priority.”
“It was a difficult decision.”
Further details will be given tomorrow morning. |

Spoken with local Ski Boot Rental People and there was a decision made on friday to keep resorts open. They are relooking at the situ on Monday night. It is no longer an health and safety issue, but more a financial issue with the amount of ski passes purchased |

Not meaning to be over dramatic; but...
French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe has ordered the closure of all non-essential public locations from midnight (23:00 GMT Saturday) in response to the coronavirus outbreak.
The measure applies to restaurants, cafes, cinemas and discos, as well as non-essential businesses.
Doesn’t look good |

We drove to Val Cenis, overnight on Friday. Got her yesterday, on change over day and now all French resorts have closed.
No refunds on accommodation as we had picked the keys up.

France, And sometimes in |
Looks like thats the end of the ski season, won't be any more in March for sure. Today they have stated that lots of transport systems are going to be cut back next week and plus borders being closed. They want everyone to stay inside for at least 2 weeks so definitely no point in trying to get to France or Spain or Germany just to stay inside a small hotel room or ski lodge. |

We have had it confirmed that it lift passes are being refunded. Managed to change our Eurotunnel booking but will be trying to claim Eurotunnel back as we wouldn't have come if we had known and claim back appt costs. Fingers crossed we get it back. |

Unfortunately, unlikely as they will claim "unforeseeable circumstance or event" , although it was questioned the day before as loads of resorts had closed! They not answering emails, or phone....lol
Hope to at least get ski passes, ski hire and tuition back. |

Not really. You break even in about 5 or 6 days, and if you ski a couple of weeks it really saves money. Plus, if the weather or snow is really bad you don't pay your pass for that day. |
