Just checked out a lovely Danish cpl, but unfortunately they had their bikes stolen. They had put a bike chain on but they still went! Just a reminder to be vigilant. |

"Just checked out a lovely Danish cpl, but unfortunately they had their bikes stolen. They had put a bike chain on but they still went! Just a reminder to be vigilant. " I had my bag stolen on the beach three years ago. It was not be very pleasant experience having to sleep on a cold floor outside the apartment unto the agent opened in the morning . I was also expecting a charge of about 250 Euros to change the locks. The agent simply changed the barrel and made no charge .
Hand bags get stolen in Tantra and in another case someone kept the keys ( or had spares cut ) of an apartment and was using it free of charge unto the agent did a spot check.
I assume anything will be stolen so keys phone and money are always kept on me . |

Chained to a fence in the village - between 12H-15H balls of some people! |

well so many get into the village unofficially and ways of getting in are posted in this forum even! So why are people supprised ?
local thieves walk up the beach and thats why the security try and stop them .
As for the bikes get a strong chain and chain them together you cannot ride away with another bike attached . ground floor flats are so easily stolen from it only takes seconds .
we have not had anything taken from oltra maybe because its harder for people to get through security but wouldn't rule it out oneday soon. |

Actually it already has happened! A few years ago a laptop was stolen, it had a tracker and the thief was apprehend by the police. Banned from the campsite and I assume a criminal record. The post was only to alert people to be on their guard and hopefully have an incident free holiday! |

I think you've just mentioned one way of getting into the village in your post...!!
We may have been extremely lucky, but in all he time we've been going to Cap, we've only once seen any form of security checks on people walking up the beach. And that was a couple of years ago when armed police were everywhere in the village after the terrorist attacks.
The beach is public, so not easy to prevent unwanted types from entering the village.
But getting back to the OP, it's a horrible thing to happen.
In a lifetime of camping, we've always felt more secure on a naturist site than the rare occasions we've had to stay on a textile site.
