I'm open to suggestions on what to do & use to keep these creatures from biting me, along with sand flies... Every year I get bitten & have an allergic reaction, the French Drs must see me as a regular income x |

Spray and keep spraying. Get a decent spray some last over 7 hours. Loads of products for around the place - we got electronic fly catchers, candles etc |

Try ODOMOS, it's Indian in origin but you can order it from Uk suppliers on well known auction sites. Comes as a spray or a cream, cost about £3 per tube. |

They reckon garlic eaten in quantity or garlic capsules then oozes out of your pores keeps the little blighters away ! Others say it’s that they prefer blood group O ! |

Its widely reported in French papers - the red alert is mainly in the south - if you draw a line across the country from Bordeaux to Nice everything under that line is at risk. I have found an article in sky news:
https://news.sky/story/france-on-alert-as-tiger-mosquitoes-spread-11350035 The article gives the symptoms too!

Cap d’Agde, France |
Been working on a large decking in our garden since Jan. and noticed the first mozzies at the end of Feb.
Last few years they didn’t emerge until 5ish in the afternoon but not this year.
The tigers float around from about 12 noon and will bite through clothes (up to 3 layers)
Have been to Doctors who have confirmed the 50 plus bites on my body as mozzies.
Have tried wipes, sprays etc constantly to no avail??
Best thing is to only go outside only on windy days or expose yourself only on the beach or stay outside only in groups so as to dilute their target audience.

Total sympathy 50 bites is bad - have gone through a bottle of spray in a week - at this rate it's going to cost a small fortune! |

"Oh no! We arrive 26th May on the campsite. Sounds like we are going to be eaten alive,
I presume they will be on there in masses.
Thanks for the warning"
Should be less of a problem in the Cap with the sea breeze, we live 5 miles inland on the north edge of the Bagnas. |

Avon skin so soft (blue original bottle, not pink)
I always use it, the mozzies love me and certainly noice the difference if I don't use it. Plus it moisturises your body lovely. |

"We used to use Avon "Skin so Soft".
Not sure if it's still available, but it really does work. "
It is still available and it's the green dry oil body spray that works best xx |

"Just looked on the website and Avon have a worldwide site with every country you could imagine... except for France!
Maybe someone that's driving down there could bring some with them for you?

"You can buy it on eBay "
It's more expensive on ebay though, plus there's always the worry of whether it is the genuine product or one that's watered down
Worth a punt though I suppose if there's no alternative. |
