Hi, we live in the Loire valley near Blois (between Tours and Orléans) in France. Here's a selection of clubs in our area, the words in brackets are french terms :
1. TOURS. Paradis at Monlouis sur Loire near Tours - our nearest club and where we go most of the time, there's a large dance area and a labyrinth of backrooms (Coins calins). One section of the club is only for couples and one Saturday night per month the whole club is couples only. You do need to get free towels (serviettes) from behind the bar before playing. There's also a big jacuzzi and sauna.
2. CHARTRES. Shaker at Vitray en Beauce near Chartres - we love this club, unfortunately its quite a distance from us otherwise we'd go more often. Its couples only on a Saturday night with a dancefloor (piste de dance) downstairs and playrooms upstairs. People are really approachable and Seb the boss is really nice and helpful; if there are any other English people in that night he'll introduce you to them. We've never had a bad night at Shaker.
3. NIORT. Elixyr at Tout-Y-Faut on the road between Niort and St. Jean D'Angely - this used to be our favourite club when we lived at La Rochelle and we still go back. Saturday night is couples only. The playrooms are upstairs and there's also a large dungeon room downstairs. The jacuzzi is closed on couples night. This club gets very busy on Saturdays and has a real party atmosphere. There are also some hotel rooms (chambres d'hôtel) but you need to book ahead of time.
4. ORLEANS. La Messaline, Oinville Saint Liphard, north of Orléans - we've only been twice, the first time was great and we easily met two couples but the second time there was a large group of 30-something Parisians who clearly felt they owned the place and we felt somewhat out of place, we went home frustrated and haven’t been back since.
5. BLOIS. Chêne club, Noyers-sur Cher, equidistant between Blois, Tours and Vierzon - we've been twice and it didn't have much of an atmosphere or enough people. It’s a shame because the club is actually very nice and has a very warm indoor swimming pool that you can dance in. If you do go to the Chêne club then go with another couple and you’ll have a great time.
6. TOURS. The Moulins club at St Maure de Tourraine just off the A10 motorway (which links Paris to Bordeaux) is the oldest in our area, its situated in an old transport cafe/hotel so upstairs are the bedrooms that lorry drivers would have slept in and downstairs is the common area/dining room which is now the bar and dance area. We went on a Saturday night but there were only 5 couples and about 10 single men, apparently it gets busier sometimes.
Upstairs, all the rooms are equipped with a 140 x 190cm size bed which is the standard French double bed, that’s a great size for a couple but for 4 people it’s a bit small. The owners were friendly and it wasn't expensive but to be honest there are better clubs in our region.
We typically spend 60 to 70€ for a night out wherever we go, soft drinks are often free - certainly the case at Paradis and Elixyr. Smoking is strictly forbidden everywhere except in the smokers room (coin fumeur) but if you do smoke this is a great place to make contact with people. Note also that the French drink driving limit is lower than in the UK.
We hope our little review helps!

Thanks for taking the time to post this information. It's always better to get first hand experience rather than read reviews on the net.
We'd love to visit some whenever we are travelling to or from the UK, so all these details help.
Thanks again.... |

Hi Longboarder, here's somewhere to try : Club Le Domaine, 23 route de la prairie, Fief de la Jarrie, 85200 Auzay, we've never been but have heard good things, if you're going as a single man you need to book ahead of time for Saturday nights but its open house on Thursday and Friday nights.
From your pseudo we presume you surf - you'll have a great time in the Vendée and on Ile de Ré. Head for "Gouillauds" on Ile de Ré, its where the locals go but don't say we told you !
