Question for anyone who has stayed at Eden or Babylon

The balance for our stay at Babylon was due to be paid on June 21st. When I initially booked it said that the balance would be automatically taken from the card I used to book with.
When it didn't go out of my account I emailed them and they just responded that I had to email them my card details, right down to the 3 digit number on the back.
That to me does not seem safe, at all. I don't want my full card details stored on someone's email server, so I mailed them back saying as much.
They then sent me their BIC and IBAN to just do a bank transfer. Again not ideal, as this offers zero card protection. But even if I wanted to, First Direct require account holders name, address, bank name, bank address etc in addition to BIC and IBAN. So I emailed again with the above info and have heard nothing back.
Is this normally how they do business or have I just been very unlucky?

I don't think that they themselves are in any way dodgy, I'm just finding their payment practice a tad odd.
If I could pay my deposit through a secure online portal, why can't I pay the balance the same way?
I'll give them a buzz tomorrow morning to try to clear it all up |

Some payment methods used in France seem archaic to Brits, but that's the way they do things here and they ain't for changing...!
They don't like to embrace technology in the same way as the rest of the world.
Try standing in the checkout queue waiting for the person in front to delve into the bottom of their bag, dig out the cheque book, get the details printed, sign it, show their ID card and all the while chatting about the grandchildren.
Just have to luv 'em....!

We booked with AGN this year too. They're a reputable company but you're right, their payment system is unsafe so we chose not to pay by card. We sent a cheque for the deposit and will send a second cheque this weekend for the balance (from a French bank account). |

Quick phone call this morning sorted it all out.
They took the money from the card I originally paid with, so no security worries from my end
We're there from July 21-26th |
