Been skiing at both Les Deux Alpes and Alpe d'Huez over the last few weeks. Great conditions and the slopes are not busy. Hardly any queues during the week - weekends are different.
Back to skiing in the Vercors next week, Villard, Meaudre and Autrans as they are only an hour from where I live.
The snow is really good at the moment and I am lucky enough to be able to pick the days when I go.
If you can get here, do it, the skiing is excellent. |

I loved it last time... last time we were out for a month with work so we built up quite a social circle etc...
I'm a rock girl at heart, as are most of my mates so I pretty much end up spending most of my time in one bar... Amigos in Bansko,

I live in Framce and have been skiing a lot this winter ( in numerous resorts). All restaurants have asked for the Covid Pass and you are asked to wear a mask in the lifts and in restaurants until seated.
Gel available freely and you are encouraged to use it.
It doesn't detract from the skiing or fun - just part of life these days.

Personally I am more comfortable with the restrictions and reporting across mainland Europe than across the channel.
Bars and restaurants are busy, the economy is growing (in France especially) and people here (as a whole) have no issues.
Just my opinion and my actual experience living (and skiing) here.
There are always people who don't believe in vaccines, masks or that the World is round so obviously, I only speak for the majority. |

Mostly, (from what I can gather from friends living and working abroad etc) the British and Americans are the main people who object to masks and things like hand sanitiser.
I don't understand it personally and I would give anything for people to keep wearing masks *especially* if they have any form of cold/sniffle... the last two years are the first years I've not ended up in hospital with some kind of chest infection / pneumonia |

Absolutely a great place to go the town is very popular plenty of bars and clubs. St Johan in the Tirol is a great link to other ski areas and if you do get the chance and get a bus to Fieberbrunn it links in to Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Circuit
An all area ski pass covers over 22 resorts but suspect a local pass will be sufficient for you if you’re only going for a week and pay a daily rate if you are want to visit another resort. If you do get the chance to get over to the Saalbach circuit look me up as I am there all winter. Enjoy St Johan and the skiing and nightlife |

I skied there about 30 years ago. It was nice then and is over the mountains from the Kitzbuhel area.
At that time it wasn't linked but had plenty of skiing, good nightlife and decent runs.
It could only have got better.

Anyone tell me where I can find the entry requirements for France on 12th Feb’
My understanding is that we need our NHS Covid Vaccination Certificate and a clear Covid Antigen test from an approved supplier taken no more than 24 hours prior to arrival. Do we need anything else? Do we need to complete a French Passenger Locator Form?
Thanks in advance |

Reply privately (closed, thread got too big) | |
Yup, as someone else says, use the gov.uk link...but as I am here now and just done it all...
Locator form, test 24 hours before travel, nhs covid cert and upload that to the French pass sanitaire (UK qr code scans straight in) - you can't buy a ski pass or get in a restaurant or bar without it...
...and a snood or neck scarf is perfect to meet the requirement of wearing a mask in bubble cars and restaurants. Everyone here seems to be respectful of the requirements, which is great
Happy skiing

SAALBACH 12th March
Has anyone been to Austria lately? No booster but recent covid recovery according to entry requirements should be fine, anyone know any different? |

Make sure your recovery is linked in to your NHS app and your two jabs … the ski pass will link in with your ski pass ….. you will not get on the ski lifts if the two aren’t synced
I’m in Saalbach whilst you are there …. Let’s have a drink |

Considering going back to Alpes D'huez or Les Deux Alpes the 2nd full week in March - after the schools are back.
There has been some good snow falling this week and the forecast looks like more is coming so, providing that in March the weather conditions look promising, I will book an apartment (easier for me as it is only just over 2 hours drive from where I live so last minute is easy).
Has anyone else got plans for either of these two resorts that week? |

Just buy the socks that you fit over. Not that much money. |

You might just as well buy them , only 30 euros or so at a supermarket , ditch them or bring back at the end |

"Male half of the couple only looking to get away Mon- Fri 7-11 March.
Don’t really mind where. Any other solo travellers planning that week? Experienced skier, I don’t mind skiing alone but always keen to ski with others or grab a beer."
I’m looking for a last minute solo ski trip - are you still going early March ? |

The weather in France is warming up and the snow in the lower resorts is disappointing fast.
The higher resorts are utilising their snow machines to extend the season as best they can but we are seeing hard packed and icy snow in the mornings (even on the highest resorts) and sugary snow lower down in the afternoons as the sun melts it.
If anyone is planning a last minute ski trip, bear this in mind. |

Snowing at the moment and said to be about -19°C (very exact for "about") on the mountain.
Should be a good end to the season on fresh snow! |
