Tech bollocks is not my thing as I can just about turn my phone on so my wife does all that stuff and we only have French mobiles so I’m going to guess at yes being the answer.

I’m sure this doesn’t help but best of luck.

I tried to upgrade on a French pay as you go mobile , and it didn't work , apparently its uk only , but PayPal worked OK
