Let’s start at the very beginning. The main gate have stopped using the Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) that enabled those using the camping site to enter without a card. So, it’s back to the old system of going into the office and buying a card, which can then be waved at the sensor post by the cabin. The office has a chap sitting by the entrance dispensing hand gel. You will need ID, preferably a passport, to get the card. However, Camping Oltra are still using their ANPR at their entrance.

The office at the camping now has a queuing system to rival some theme parks. If it gets to the end of the line, no idea where you stand next. But so far, after two visits, we were at the head of the queue both times. There are two downloadable forms on the website to warn you about what to expect. Wear a mask, and take your own pen. By the way, for a Saturday in June, the place is empty compared to normal.

Thanks for the updates.

Glad to see the back of the ANPR system on the main gate. No problem with Oltra using it though.

Guess the card is still valid for 12 months..?

There is a lengthy list of prices iat the entrance to the Office. We paid €25, that being for the camping season, but it looked as if there was an annual rate, with a discount if you lived in Agde. There wasn’t much else to read while the man with the hand sanitiser decided if we might be allowed entry.

The annual price for a pass is 210 euros, this hasn't changed for the last 3 years.

If you live in Agde, only and can present proof you get a discount 10-20%.

If you can get sponsored by a Cap business (Carte de Parrainage) it will cost 50 euros

We know that the title is Changes, but this is a non Change. In October last year, there was a lovely map at the sea end of Port Nature, showing various works that should have occurred on the seafront between Tantra and the Camping. It had many lovely lines, and shaded areas, but no key to say what they meant. The map has now gone, and no work seems to have been carried out.

Interesting. Please do not eat at the Blue Banana by the way. Been slagged off by many for low hygiene standards. Just saying.

Just finished afternoon walk round village. Please bear in mind that it’s a Sunday, although it is Mother’s Day here.Port Ambonne has Pilouterie and Palmerie and Bodega Bar all open. Area around Melrose no signs of life. Crossing over by Waikiki, that’s shut, and no sign of any restaurant being open. Sea end of PN, Chicken Restaurant open, but no customers. Pizza Restaurant closed down and now clothes shop. Baskin Robbins open. Mississippi open, but few customers. Staff are wearing masks, but as chin ornaments. Calypso and Horizon both shut. Ô2Bizou open, so stopped for a drink. Got lowdown on walkway failure. Was scheduled to start on Monday 16 March, but after Macrons speech it never started. If they can afford it, maybe next year. Swimming Pool not even filled. Onto Helio. Gymnos open, but no takeaway till 14 June. Green Bazaar, Bakery and 1664 all open. Spar has had a makeover, looks nice. All 3 beach bars built but not open. Sun Beach Restaurant now open, and that was rammed yesterday. Back to Campsite via Allé Mer. Total of 11 Caravans on it, 2 of which were Gardiennage drop offs, and unoccupied so far. I’ve seen better occupancy on 15th March.

Thank you so much for your updates. We have already missed two short visits we had planned this year. We do have two more booked for last few days of August into September and at the very end of that month.

Could you please let us know if Eden is open and if the 2+2 / Histoires d' O sauna looks as though it might start again this year?

Please keep posting. Thank you.

Could you please let us know if Eden is open and if the 2+2 / Histoires d' O sauna looks as though it might start again this year?

The afternoon walk included Jardin de Eden. The main door was open, so managed to have a look round. The pink pool has been filled with water, but nothing else appeared to be open. One apartement had its shutters up. No visible sun loungers, but the blackboard by the door suggested that a bar should have been open. Also explored Jardin de Babylon, no signs of life, no cars outside, no doors open to go in and have a look. Natureva Spa did appear to be open though. Down at the sea end of PN, La Canne a Sucre, a Tapas bar/ restaurant has now opened. Calypso will be reopening shortly judging by the wood staining team. Waiki Beach look to be opening shortly, as all the tables now have glasses and cutlery. Wine and spirits were being delivered as we went past. Couldn’t see if they had filled the pool. Mississippi look to have scrapped the evening service, as all table condiments, ashtrays and umbrellas were being cleared by 5pm. The beach, as viewed from Ô2bizoux terrasse had about 8 people on it, but the two very cold beers consumed were much appreciated. Had to turn down the peanuts though.

Hi. Tbanks . I had to post the keys recorded delivery to the new agent as I cannot travel ( cancelled flights). Glad to see Joys is open - one of my all time favourites. I see their menu every day as I follow them on Faceboox. The Terrasse cafe beside Joys is also now open ( again I follow them on a social media site).

Your updates are very useful. I guess it must be a strange experience being there now. ( compared to previous Junes)

The next big announcement will be on Monday 22June by the French PM. Until then, no club will be able to open, so Tantra, Le Juls, etc, including the Saunas will have to stay closed. If you follow a website called France 24 English, they cover the pressers, with an English translator.

I think Macron has done a very good job under difficult circumstances which has tested most world leaders.

He's been humble enough to admit that they made lots of mistakes at the beginning and during the confinement, but magnanimous to reward all workers during the crisis.

Quite a contrast to the Uk (and the USA) where its leaders have been patting themselves on the back despite the disastrous outcomes, in both the infection/death rates and economic consequences.

And what reward will all those front line workers get who risked their lives helping others.

More pay freezes and cuts to go with the 10 years of pay deflation suffered in the UK by the public services.

The good news from Macron last night was ‘“I will be very clear tonight, compatriots: the Republic won’t erase any name from its history. It will forget none of its artworks, it won’t take down statues”

Apart from the Oltra water features at the entrance to the campsite, and near reception, is anyone aware of any other monuments that need to be looked after within the Village? The one on the roundabout looks secured already by the size of it. Also artworks?

Another, shorter, afternoon stroll. Beach now much busier. All 3 beach bars/restaurants/loungers now open. No sight of any lifeguard stations being open. Glamour looks shut. Foam Party area had an open door, so looked through. The pool bit was empty. The cafe next door is still closed. Couple of drinks in Ô2Bizoux ,very nice. The menu has been expanded a bit. The lads have taken on a new barman/cook. Menu in English due next week. Calypso now open. Horizon still closed. Tantra looks closed with the sign board by the swimming pool still covered. Talking to an English Couple, they reckoned that Missisipi and Calypso have been crowded in the evening. Round to Hélio, hairdressers all open, just in case you get here after 4 July without your locks having been coiffured back in the U.K. The Buffet Volante le s now open, was called the Blue Lagoon, or something like that. Hot and Tasty is also open, but bas had to remove some tables. The Spar supermarket, that we said previously had been given a makeover has got an extra bit added on, integrating the old clothes shop between it and 1664. The Thai Restaurant near 1664 is now open. So, back to the campsite, where an extra shop has been added at the entrance. No signs, no idea what it is for as yet. The fish shop at the entrance is now opening on 26 June. And the front of our mobile home has now been fixed after speeding groundstaff put three holes in it by kicking up stones. Free and Gratis, which was nice. May do another walk tomorrow, after the gas inspection, and also the ing. Have a nice night.

This is outside the village, but the bus journey starts at the Village. For those who used to come down at the end of May, they may have gone to a wine tasting event, over 3 days, at the main harbour in Le Cap d’Agde. €3 for a wine glass, and tickets for 3 tastings. As nobody ever wanted the tokens, rather more than 3 tastings could be managed from the 150 or so stalls. The d*unk chap at the Besson Wine Co-op was dispensing large measures by lunch! Well, it’s back on from Sunday 12 July to Tuesday 14 July. Bit smaller, with only 70 stalls though. If you don’t want to walk, the Number 4 bus is quite easy to use for €1 each way. Would recommend the a Monday though, as limited service on Sunday, and no service on Tuesday as it’s Bastille Day.

Back from a rather hot afternoon stroll. Not complaining. Top end of Port Nature. Melrose is being made ready. Asked the owner when though? After a Gallic shrug or two, she reckoned some time in July, when they let her. There are now two icecream shops open near Waikiki. You can surely only eat so much? Waikiki is open for drinks and evening meals. Must remember to go up a floor or two to see if the swimming pool is filled. Back to Port Ambonne. Pilouterie have changed their baby pink chairs to white. Bodega Bar swimming pool is filled and in use. Saunas are now open. Porn cinema closed. The Fetish Club, Clair Obscur, was advertising events for this Friday and Saturday. But, you have to wear a mask due to La Covid 19. Whether a gimp mask would suffice was not specified! Finally Hotel Eve still looks closed, along with Jardin de Babylon. Back, and time for a beer at Le Croq in half an hour.

Thank you. Hopefully the ban will lift soon for you all. One further update for camp site dwellers. By Le Croq, there used to be two telephone boxes, although we are going back 15 years or so. They were then repurposed, after becoming obsolete due to mobile phones, to storage cupboards. The left box is now a ladies loo, the right a gents loo. The doors have been changed so you’re not on display!

One other thing. Some bars, as you approach, the staff are trying to put masks on. A simple wave, and the masks are put away. It is .... failing?

Today’s stroll included the Swimming Pools. Waikiki pool is filled and open. Kama Sutra pool, at the sea end of PN is filled but not yet open. My guess would be that it will open this weekend as the beds are laid out, and they are putting the parasols in. On the camping, Allé Mer, that at the start had just eleven caravans on it now has 11 occupancies in the statics for rent, 53 caravans/camper vans/tents, and 2 occupancies in the super expensive Pearl Cottages. Things are on the up.

We arrived this afternoon after the usual stress free drive down the A75. Our usual hotel had a thorough covid regime in place although the days of the fab breakfast has been sidelined.

Arriving in the village we had expected a huge queue at the office where we had to collect our residents passes. However despite only one member of staff on duty the whole process only took a couple of minutes longer than usual.

Inside the village it would appear to be business as usual not a mask to be seen.

Early days but it’s great to be back in the land of dreams.

There is new type of Clear plastic mask on sale at Le Croq, centre of campsite. €4 each, Solid loop goes from ear to ear under the chin, with the plastic then covering mouth and nose, and not fogging your glasses up according to my informant. May be available in other outlets!

Repost about barbers and waxing (épilation), from another thread, just to help anyone who arrives here without having their regular beauty treatment in the UK. There is one in Hélio, two shops, one for hair, one for waxing. Just about next to Gymnos. Called La Garçonnière. Appointments phone 04 34 53 12 86. Extensive range of treatments available, the waxing starting at €8 going up to €105!

Is tomorrow due to be the announcement about air bridges? Have to admit to being a bit confused about the latest travel guidance from England to France ( not including Leicester, Scotchland, Whales, and Ireland, North and Republic) .

Two things at the sea end of PN. The disabled ramp has now been concreted, and it looks ready for some landscaping. To our knowledge there is at least one wheelchair user on here that goes to the Village, so that may make life a little easier. And Horizon is getting ready to open. Sun beds are being cleaned, coverings checked, that sort of thing. No idea on a date yet.

Yeah, supposedly going to be an update saying France is among a group of countries we can now visit without having to quarantine on return. Rumours are it will start from 6th July, which will be perfect for us!!

Any idea what the situation is regarding the use of shower blocks on the campsite? Are they still in use, if so what are the restrictions?

Also are the pitches on Allee Mer distanced or occupied next to each other?

Thanks.

The shower blocks are nearly all open. If there are partitions, then there appear to be no restrictions. Some blocks are closed, but this is a normal thing. For instance the block behind us is closed for showers, but it is never open till mid July, so no change. The sinks, for either personal washing, or crockery cleaning, are partly blocked off, so one open, one closed etc. There are no restrictions on the camping sites. They are all available. Hope that helps?

Thanks for your reply, yes that does help.

We are thinking of going in August, was a bit worried about standing next to people at sinks etc. but if they are distanced will be ok. At first were worried about being on a pitch next to someone, but then thought they are big enough to distance ourselves anyway, so will be ok

If you are worried about distancing, your journey to the cap alone will have little to no distancing between individuals. Probably best to skip this year if you are that worried.

Forgot to mention that some of the facilities have a one way system in place as well as the spacing. Getting a beer at Le Croq is a little on the complicated side. Queue to pay in the first one way system, then back into the road, and round the corner to pick the beer up. Drink beer, leave via separate exit!

News from the campsite. The new shop by the entrance, that we mentioned two weeks ago, has now opened. It does cold meats, ( charcuterie)cut to order, some artisan cheeses, and a hot dish. Tonight it is a Paella Royale. Also the cooked moules stand, cooked to order, is now back in business, starting today.

Ô2 staff are now wearing the clear plastic masks. It seems that they have been ordered to wear them. You don’t have to, but, on the other hand, the sight of naked people wandering around wearing blue masks is slightly surreal.

Well, what is given with one hand, is sometimes removed with force the next day. This time it’s Spar in Hélio, who following Macrons speech two days ago, are now insisting on compulsory masks from July 20th.

From a fellow conspirator on another site?

You can tell everyone that all the bars received notice from the police last night. Too many are disobeying the rules and if it continues they'll be shut down. Melrose only 50 people allowed. No dancing !

There is no mousse at the glamour beach and you have to call them to make a reservation. Prices are expensive. Max 100 couples but they have been very quiet . Clubs are shut until 15th September.

Cap d’Agde, France

Another wild night in the Cap last night, the place was heaving.

Ended up in the Bodega where people were dancing as if the world was to end tomorrow, full of horny ladies and even a proper poll dancer.

Our French friends told us though of changes coming in on Monday.

Dancing will no longer be allowed in the Bars, masks will be compulsory in all covered businesses including bars. They can only be removed when sitting down.

Music throughout the village has to be kept low, any premises flaunting this will rule will have their music licence withdrawn.

Saunas are allowed to stay open as does the foam party but masks must be worn, (staff in the foam though won't insist on how a mask is worn as long as the ears are attached!

Swing clubs are closed although Clair Obscur remains open, again masks must be worn unless two or four people go into a curtained off area to play where only there they can be removed.

I would imagine following the resurgence of Covid in neighbouring Catalonia that further restriction will come in especially as the season is starting to hot up!

You have to remember that the decisions are made in Paris. The fact that there is limited infection here in the South is nothing to the ruling class. Put your muzzle on. Bow down to to Paris.

In Hélio, if you walk through the covered walkway between 1664 and Gymnos, it’s now a mask up zone, even before you go into a shop or restaurant.

The good news is that the baby swallows are now able to leave their nest, and are undertaking fluttering lessons between the nest and the nearest sign, supervised by Mum and Dad.

Think we’ve managed to sort out the rumour of bars being closed in the Village, or not. The answer in short is not. Many thanks to essexfun4two for the Facebook entry from La Cave Se Rebiffe, which is a new restaurant and bar in Port Ambonne, housed where the clothing shop stood at the entrance. It seems that about 10 other owners were summoned to the police station, and given a final warning, that if they continued to let people get out of the chairs and boogy around to either live, or recorded music, they would be closed down. So after the stroll around today, Bodega Bar is still open, Le Pilouterie still has its drum kit set up, Melrose has no sign to say it has been ordered to shut, 1664 still has a chanteuse scheduled for this evening, and Waiki Beach is holding a 1 person protest by seeing how loud they can get the music. The only bars and restaurants found closed, which probably never opened at all this season were Le Secret Follies ( top end of PN), the little tapas bar in Hélio, and Les Jardins de 1664 ( not the bar). Everything else is still open by the looks of a stroll at 3pm! Now off to Le Croq for a refreshing beverage or two.

All a bit of a joke! We were at Richeleu beach yesterday and every Sunday is ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ at Jungle beach- full on party mode starting at 4pm. No social distancing no nothing so I don’t understand the double standards!

"Think we’ve managed to sort out the rumour of bars being closed in the Village, or not. Another update tomorrow, hopefully courtesy of a fellow conspirator. It seems that Le Secret Follies was one of the guilty parties, and has voluntarily closed down for the season. I’m just waiting for permission to publish.

From a fellow conspirator. The last 2 weeks have been a piss take. Melrose, le look, secret follies were all shut for their total disregard of hygiene. More could follow.

Last night (Sunday) l'arche was still not complying with regulations after also being told. They were all shut down last night(Sunday). Also as of now everyone has to wear a mask in the village except at the beach. Announced by the prefecture. They have also been filming activities at the beach.

Note by OP. At the moment, there is no requirement to wear a muzzle while in the open air on the campsite.

Have a look at the obligatory signs everywhere around the campsite. Anyone over the age off 11 must wear one unless on the beach or on their pitch

Are you actually on CHM Oltra? The signs require you to wear one while indoors at reception, and at Le Croq while paying for and picking up food and drink. Also when under cover at the greengrocers. That is it. Try downloading the advice from the website if you are having problems. They do them in English as well. And no, security have not been round changing the rules. Please stop trying to scare people.

Really!, certainly not trying to scare anyone. All the signs were put up this morning in the Oltra campsite. We were even stopped on the way to the shower this morning by security and asked to place on a facemask.

Apologies. Just found these rather new signs stuck to the directional signposts. They are going to have problems enforcing this. No pre announcement, apologies to you again.

Ghymnos Facebook page gave a link to the actual official order. The map of the official village mask zone does not include the campsite, but guess that they can make their own rules.

No problem, yes enforcing it may be difficult as lots are ignoring it but some are unaware at the moment.

So, after 79 days of being unable to access the campsite, a further 76 days of a set of rules that seemed sensible, we are now in Day 1 of a regime that it seems has been decided between the Prefecture and Oltra. I know it now applies to the whole Village Naturiste as have just returned from the weekly shop and there are now large signs mounted outside the entry gates. It looks either stupid, of hilarious, looking at totally naked people, other than the now enforced mask. There are now 59 days left in the season. Seriously contemplating heading back up the mountain. If the rest of Le Cap is not under this order, why should we be. Rant over, for the moment.

We were treated this evening to a walk through by 3 members of the CRS by 1664. These are the riot police who threatened to go on strike over the removal of wine from their packed lunches, but have kicked the proverbial in Paris, and other areas over the yellow vest protests. Injuries include blowing peoples fingers off, and eyes as well. Well 4 or 5 years ago, we had frigates in the bay, and the CRS fully armoured, with maximum weaponry after the various terrorist threats, and attacks. Tonight, no body armour, no machine guns, just the normal pistol and baton. They were checking for people who were not wearing masks. Words failed us over the new priorities.

At the moment, enough is open. By 12/9, we have no idea. Your other problem is the 14 day quarantine back in UK. We have no idea if it will still exist, or any other retaliation.

Saw three vans full of CRS on Monday outside Le Pilouterie.

Not sure why they employ them in the village, not really necessary since they really are the heavy brigade, not the sorts you want to mix it with.

Told yesterday that they've closed the swinger beach, things starting to look a bit out of season already mid August

The CRS are often in the Village parked by the Port smoking away.

It’s not so long ago when shagging on Pig Beach was banned they kept an eye on things dressed in their white T shirts and CRS badged budgie smugglers. Which became prized souvenirs for some of the more brazen ladies. They soon retreated when the Mayor concluded the Pigs on the Beach were self regulating

"Just another question is karma sutra open. We aren’t assed about downstairs but love sitting round the pool. "

It was as of yesterday, but who knows. The latest from the Hérault préfecture, translated by Google.

HÉRAULT. Wearing a mask compulsory and gatherings of more than 10 people prohibited!

A decision taken because of the acceleration of the spread of the virus in the Hérault department, which is facing a large influx of tourists. The alert threshold being exceeded in Hérault. The figures are alarming in the department, the number of hospitalized patients goes from 6 to 12 in just 24 hours.

The average is therefore 50 positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants according to data from Public Health France. A prefectural decree obliges the wearing of masks in all coastal towns and prohibits gatherings of more than 10 people in public spaces anywhere in Hérault from Saturday August 22.

The exemptions to open certain bars or restaurants until two in the morning have been lifted throughout the department. Finally, special attention is paid to the naturist village of Cap d'Agde, a veritable cluster of Covid-19, where the number of positive cases is very worrying.

"Is the campsite still full or have most people gone home / not turned up ?"

With a week to go till the end of the school holidays, it’s normally still full. However, it is fair to say it is emptying, and is at the sort of beginning of June level. All shops still open. The new mask policy has not helped things.

We haven’t included all the newspaper reports from today, until we got a handle on how the testing was done. The testing picture was clearly outside the village, on the bit of grass opposite the number 4 bus stop. Testing was done on anyone who wanted to be tested over two days. Most, if not all, were people living, or staying outside the Village Naturiste apparently. There has been no attempt to produce figures based on where you were staying. Which is why the mask enforcement now includes all coastal villages and towns in the Hérault. Statistics can be used as a d*unken man uses a lamppost, for support, rather than illumination.

An interesting post . In order to make an more objective analysis, it would be interesting to know what risks those who tested positive had taken and where they caught Covid 10. Were they advering to social distancing rules or ignoring them ? As a benchmark, it would be useful to compare these results against another town or village. What prompted people to be tested. ? Curiosity or did they already have the symptoms?

Valid and relevant points. But regrettably not ones asked by the testing authorities., and if they asked about social distancing, I wouldn’t trust the responses anyway. Coughs .....Covid 19 by the way!

Next review date, for the closed 11 premises is apparently 7 September 2020. The marquee for the testing, along with the barriers are still in front of the Cycle Hire shop. Nobody doing any testing though.

Well, 3 places that are still open. Just up on Oltra website, translation by Google.

As representatives of the following establishments: the Center Naturiste René Oltra campsite, the private beach Paralia Beach Club, the Sun Beach restaurant.

Know that we are aware of the health crisis that our region is currently going through.

Also, we wanted to remind you that since the end of containment and the opening of our establishments, we have put in place important measures to do our best to limit the risks of the virus spreading.

As our customers and the authorities can testify, we scrupulously apply all health protocols.

It is with this in mind and by strictly following this line of conduct that we will continue to welcome you every day.

Repost from a week ago from the campsite regarding new Covid protocols.

Dear customers,

Following the decision of the prefect (Prefectoral Order No. 2020/01/290 applicable from 31/08/2020 to 15/09/2020), the regulations regarding access to the naturist village are amended.

Indeed, only residential customers as well as those who have already booked their stays will be able to access the René Oltra Centre through the entrance of the village.

For all management and teams, your satisfaction and well-being are the priority, so we want to maintain the same level of benefits while continuing to strictly apply all health protocols. Some shops including the Sun Beach restaurant and the private beach club Paralia Beach Club also remain open.

We remain at your disposal.

The management

Now staying in the village but drove in every day until yesterday without a problem, just used our card at the barrier, nobody questioned us.

The beach is busy but the prefecture has killed the village dead, it’s about as lively as a typical April day, such a pity!

Totally agree. The car parks are empty, and most people on the beach are coming in from the Marseillan Plage end. If you have an entry card, that is in date, it still works.

For those that can get in, Paralia Beach Club will close on 20 September, and Sun Beach restaurant on 27 September. Both are right next to Plage de Cochons.
