Fab members who live in Spain or France
Jump to: Newest in thread
Hi Admin.
There are many Fabbers who live in Spain or France who can't allocate their home address correctly.
We have to use a UK location and then highlight it in our profile that we don't actually live in the UK and make it clear where we really are.
People can record their location as being Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand and USA, but not Spain or France.
There are huge numbers of Fabbers who live in those two countries and thousands more holiday in Cap and Gran Canaria, as well as other places in mainland Spain and France. We already have a separate forum for those countries.
I'm sure it would help a lot more folks hook up if we could change our location as and when we visited abroad.
Now I know it has been asked before, but could we please have a definitive answer from Admin as to whether this is possible..?
If nothing else, it would stop similar ideas being put forward in the future.
Thanks in anticipation..
PS. And before anyone comments, yes, I know the virus situation is on at the moment...!! |

"Yeah sounds a good plan. We would like to see this added "
There are many of us that would support this.
However this suggestion has been falling on deaf ears with admin for years, so I don't see much chance this time.
Even a dedicated chat room would be a start, but I can't remember how many years ago we started asking for that one. Yet the Canada chat room sits idle and empty for weeks on end.
As I pointed out on another thread. I think Spain has more resident Fabbers than the USA. Canada, Australia, and New Zealand added together.
And that is before we start with visitors. |

"Great ideal as we still find so many people contact us from uk as they think we are there. This happens even though we state we are in France. "
That was a real pain for us in the past.
We used my old UK postcode (NW England) when we first joined and had message after message. Meet in Blackpool, Manchester, Liverpool Etc Etc.
We (and a few others) changed postcode to the Scilly Isles. It didn't stop it but it considerably reduced it.
Then again, if people read profiles...... |

Myself and Hotlove have been posting for a chat room since we first managed to get a Spanish forum.
Have never had one single response from admin. We can but keep trying. Just maybe they will take note. |

If there has been no response from admins on this for many months/years, why not try a little positive action, and take "squatters rights" over the Canada forum. Just tell everyone you come across from, say, mainland Europe, that you will all now use the Canada forum.
I also asked for this when I lived in France, so it's been an inconvenience on here for at least 7 years. That's a long time to have so little interaction on the subject from the site owners, n'est pas? |

I remember that we tried doing that with the Canada chat room a few years ago but it didn't really take off.
While the lockdown is on I suppose now could be a good time to try again.
Any suggestions for a time when we could all pop in and squat? |
